Captain, Co. A, 356th Infantry; KIA on the Meuse, near Barricourt 11-3-1918. Congressional Medal of Honor, posthumous. Memorialized at the Medal of Honor Memorial at the Arkansas State House; an American Legion post in Denver bears his name. Chiles Avenue is at Fort Carson, Colorado.
