Summer rush is in full swing.
Under the guidance of Rush
Chairman Bill Black '62, Cham
paign, and with the help of both
the undergraduate chapter and
graduate brothers, Chi Iota is
preparing for what we hope will
be
another
successful
formal
rush week.
Thus
far
Chi
Iota
has
held
two rush parties and has sever
al more on the drawing boards.
On the week-end of Jul.v 8th
approximately 20 undergradu
ate brothers and 25 rushess met

Chi Iota has finally captured
the coveted U of I I-M trophy
from the Phi Delt.s I

however,
championships in handball and
golf (Bill Becker '54, Oak Park,
broke the course record at Sa
voy with a 32 on the front nine),
and a second in outdoor track,
placed the Fijis out of reach of
the Phi Delts and also Phi Epsilon Pi.
The final total was 288 points
for Phi Gamma Delta and 241
for Phi Delta Theta.
The Fijis started the I-M race
this year b,y winning their
league in football and then went
on to capture swimming, water
polo and g.ymnastics. In the sec
ond semester, Chi Iota captured
championships in handball and
golf, and took seconds in bas
ketball, track and horseshoes.
Chi Iota failed to gain points
in only three out of the seven(Continued on Page 6)

the

paign-Urbana area rushees, the
part,y consisted of an afternoon
of charcoal broiled hamburgers,
baseball, swimming, and some

The summer rush parties still
ahead are:
August 13 at Springfield
And the famed Peoria rush
party the date of which is
yet to be announced.
However
summer rush
does
not consist solely of parties.
