boxing. Bill Kettenring made a fine
showing by advancing to the semi
finals. In another fall sport, tennis,
Sam Kellams and Bob Snyder each
won two matches.
Another major sport still in prog

are undefeated in six outings. The
starting five from last season have all
returned and are being led by team
captain Charley Fink.
The Phi Gam wrestling team is now
practicing and we plan to enter seven
men in competition. Another winter
sport we are preparing for is swim

the team. Go Fijis!

Improvements
The improvements in the lodge this
year have ben many and varied. In
addition to regularly scheduled
pledge clean-ups, which include dust
ing, waxing, and washing, the recep
tion room and the club room have
been given a fresh coat of paint. The
usual green walls and ceiling have
been painted beige and white respec
tively.
To add to this list of improvements,
the green couches in the club room
and some other assorted furniture on
the first floor have been reupholstered.
Several dining room chairs have also
been repaired.
Due to the high mineral content of
the water here at Penn State which
often results in corroded pipes, the
heating coils in our water heater were
cleaned and repaired. Many angry
brothers took cold showers while the

they survived.
Although these repairs have been
accomplished this year, we have been
forced to call a premature halt to
the rest of our repair program, due to
insufficient funds.
Spring Week, which this year ex
tends from April 27th to May 3rd. will
include the float parade and carnival.
The climax of the week's activities
will be awards night, at which time
the winning fraternities and sororities
will be recognized.

are continuing to do a commendable
job on the social committee. The fall
social program was characterized by
the traditional functions of Gamma
Phi.
During the football season cocktail
parties after the home games added
to the enjoyment of a successful Penn
State football season. To alleviate the
dullness of the away game weekends,
we invited sororities to the lodge on
Saturday aftemons for some coed
companionship.
The annual Pledge Dance and the
Ghristmas Party were among the
highlights of the semester. For Ghrist
mas weekend the entire house was
clothed in boughs of evergreen and
large wreaths garnished the mantel
and the party room bricks. The com
bined treat of egg nog, a roaring fire
and Hummel Fishbum's piano play
ing added to the delight of this week
end which was climaxed when the
Tri-Delts and the Fijis combined to
help Santa Glaus pass out gifts to a
group of underprivileged children.
