poetry. He has written three books:

During these busy years Doc has
not forgotten his fraternity. In ad
dition to being national historian,
he has also occupied such high po
sitions as Archon officer and na
tional educational director. He has
also served as faculty advisor to
Lambda-Iota chapter.

Charles R. Jennings '52 is now
deputy counsel for the county of
Los Angeles. He was until a year
ago a captain in the US air force,

October of 1962 to the former Mar

Road Builder Brown '08
Confined By Stroke
A retired civil engineer for the
US bureau of public roads is Levant
R. Brown '08. Active on the year
book staff and as chapter librarian
while, an undergraduate who trans
ferred to Purdue from Cornell in
1906, 'Bugs' built roads and public
buildings in the Phillipine Islands
in 1908 and was in charge of Rizal
province there from 1908-18. He
was also with the State department,
building roads in Costa Rica and
with the Department of Commerce
as a senior highway engineer (for
the Arizona, California, Nevada,
Utah, Hawaii area).
He received the silver medal
award for meidtorius service from
the Department of Commerce in
1954.
Bugs served as a captain of en
gineers in WW I and as a major in
the engineers in WW II, working
during the latter campaign on the

Initiates Thirteen
Lambda-Iota initiated 13 men on
October 17. They represent a wide
variety of interests, ranging from

over Iowa on October 26, making
this year's Homecoming a big suc

Charter Member Dies
Wayne J. Burton '03, a charter
member of Lambda-Iota chapter,
died on May 14 in St. Louis, Mo.
He had retired some years earlier
as assistant chief engineer for the
Missouri Pacific railroad. 'Judge'
was very active in many social,
civic and professional organizations
