We started the year slowly but have continually picked up momentum. We have already accomplished many of the goals This past year we were successful in rush and among these fine young men are some very promis ing leaders. This year we participated in Homecoming with Gamma Phi Beta. We enjoyed trade parties, car washes, work sessions, service projects, Greek Week, Parent's Day and other campus acti vities. Individual Brothers are active includ ing members of the Junior Union Board, Treasurer of Junior Union Board, IFC Committee Chairs, Blue Berets, two members of Union Board and two Gene Riegle was a member of the Spring 1971 Pledge Class. He graduated in 1974 with a GPA of 2.7 and received a degree in Psychology. While in school. Gene liked to hang around with Brothers Jeff Cline, Charlie Brown, Larry Watson, Mark Blevins and Jack Meneely. His most memorable experience with his brothers was being a member of Iota Sigma National Activation Activities. Gene is currently working as a Rehabilitation Counselor. Gene and his wife, Sandy, have a one year old daughter, Sarah. The Riegles live at R.R.#22, Box 174,Terre Haute, (812) 299-8638. Gene is currently very active with the undergrade, helping with the house and an assortment of other things. THANKS, GENEl Residence Assistants. As the second semester rolls on, the Brothers have become closer and more dedicated to achieving our goals. Our Fall grades are with in .2 of the All-Fraternity average. I expect our overall chapter GPA to improve drastically this semester. Although the graduate turnout for the Pig Dinner was smaller than usual, it will be one to remember for all who went. We missed those of you who couldn't make it, but there is next year! The undergraduate and graduate brothers had a super time singing, drinking and telling lies about the past. We had a Chapter Retreat April 25 in which we went over our goals for Fall '82. We will end the year with our FIJI Island and everyone is keyed up for it. It will be a great way to end the school year. John Shields was a member of the Spring 1976 Pledge Class. He liked to run around with Tim Gaddis, Monty Shields, Randy Lucas, Denny Bowser and Greg Hunt. involved with helping the chapter. Thanks for all of your help. John's major was Finance and he graduated with a 2.37 in December, 1979. John is single and works as a Loan Officer. He resides at 607 Indianapolis, Ave., Seymour, IN 47274, (812) 522-2643. Kurt Owens was a member of the Fall 1974 Pledge Class. Kurt hung around with Brothers Denny Bowser, Monty Shields, T-im Gaddis and Doug Van Skoyk. While attending ISU, Kurt was corresponding Secretary, Songfest Director and CR Director. Perge! Kurt's most memorable experience with his Brothers was winning the President's Cup in Songfest 1977 - APPLAUSE!!! Good going Kurt and members of the 1977 Songfest group. Kurt majored in Speech, and graduated with a in 1978. Brian is from the Alpha Beta Pledge class, The Pig Dinner at Iota Sigma was a big success this year. About thirty Graduates had a and is our new House Manager. He would like super dinner at Adami's. Pete gave us a very inspiring speech about the bet terment of the Chapter and improvement of individuals. Everyone was in good spirits and there was a party at the House afterwards with the Graduates singing some of the old songs. Brother Larry Watson gave us a special version Brian is an Aviation Administration major and is from a small northern Illinois town called Sterling. However, his experiences are not limited to small town activities. T^ile he was in High School, he was a Foreign Exchange Student and went to Malaysia in Southeast Asia. After High School, Brian attended Embry-Riddle Aero nautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. for one year before deciding to come to Indiana State. of one of his favorites I Although this writer still does not know for sure what i t was. He said that he liked^ Fraternally, Randy Simp son ]Per^eJ_ Introducing our New Purple Legionnaire - Larry Watson - being Purple Legionnaire and enjoyed the Brothers of Iota Sigma. At the same time, he said being Purple Legionnaire had been-chal-^ lenging. The chapter was lacking its organi zation and direction when he stepped in. We all As the Iota Sigma Fiji's end another School year, we find ourselves with the prospect of promising leadership from a new Purple Legionnaire. Larry Watson decided to take feel that the Chapter, due to Steve's help is on the task of guiding the undergrads through what will be the most difficult now more organized and is starting to head in the right direction. Steve also stated that be cause of his responsibilities as Purple Legion naire, he learned more about himself and Phi Gamma Delta, and he feels this will help him when he goes out into the world. Steve feels that Iota Sigma will make it, al though the future will be stormy and full of tension. He feels the Brothers are going to learn about responsibility very quickly next year. One reason we will make it is because of Graduate Brothers. He said the grads are there period of Iota Sigma's history. Upon talking with Larry, I discovered several insights on how he viewed his position. Larry contends he was thoroughly surprised to be elected as Purple Les^ionnaire but he readily accepted the new office. Larry took the position because he felt there are lots of ways to solve chapter problems if both undergraduates and graduates are will ing to work together. He feels he has the time and has an active interest in the for support, but undergrads don't call on them chapter. enough. He also states that the goals set for Iota Sigma are very reasonable and feels that we will accomplish most of the goals, but may fall short in other areas. All in all, he feels there is going to be a lot of hard work next year with every positive results. Asked about Larry Watson becoming the new Purple Legionnaire, Steve replied "at first I wondered, but sitting in the Control Board meeting, I saw things that I had not seen before - things I liked. I think he will do a fine job. He will show a little more strength than I did and he won't take "no" for an answer. Larry has some good ideas and everybody should cooperate with him. If there is something he doesn't know he will find out about it. He is very interested in Iota Sigma." chapter to fulfill the obligations that are outlined by International Headquarters. Larry contends he will be very busy overseeing the total administration of the chapter but his efforts can only be as successful as the amount of interest the undergrads are willing to put forth this upcoming school year.
