President's Letter
This past semester has been one of stablization for Sigma Omicron.
Thanks to our well establish committee system and dedicated committee
chairmen, the new cabinet has been free to focus its attention upon
the chapter's financial situation. After considerable sacrifice by
the brothers and a great deal of hard work by our treasurer, we fell
that the chapter has a firm financial base for the STjmmer and following
year. Another positive outcome was that Sigma Omicron was third out
of twenty-foxir fraternities for the second consecutive semester in
grades. For its hard work the chapter was recognized as the Most Im
proved Fraternity Academically at the recent Golden Greek Awards Ban
quet.
The main focus of the chapter at this time is^ the future, namely
membership recruitment.
Bruce Braugher, this summers rush chairman,
has been doing an outstanding job preparing the chapter for the coming
summer. Our first-rush party for the summer,S.0.B.(South of the
Border), was tremedously successful and we are expecting even more
out of next weekends Fiji Island rush party. The attitude of the
entire chapter towards rush is at a level above any I have ever exper
ience in my three years. Other bright spots in the future for Sigma
Omicron are; Fiji Island weekend, Aprill 22-23; Varsity Revue wich
the women of Alpha Chi Omega; and next years Spring Sing.
In closing, let me thank you our, graduate brothers, for your
support and let me extend my personal invitation to come by the
chapter for a visit in the near future. Also, if there is anyway
that the chapter or I may help you, please fell free to contact us.
Fraternally,
Mark Wynn

Treasurer's Report
This year in Phi Gamma Delta we are doing an excellent job finan
cially. With outstanding graduate support, especially at this years
pig dinner and the help of undergraduate brothers, we are getting
Phi Gam out of debt for the first time in about five years, even with
only 31 brothers living in the house.
With an excellant rush we are
\r\ngoing to have this sxammer, it will even make our position better.
But still we must rely on the graduate support that we have grown to
expect.
If it wasn't for you, we wouldn not be here and wouldn't
know the wonderful experience that Phi Gamma Delta can make in your
life.
Fraternally,
Gary Gauntt

Rush!
Rush has become the single most important activity for the house
this year. Due to lack of numbers, it has curtailed our ability to
participate' in nTjmerous activities this past year. This stammer we
have planned to have an outstanding rush. Everyone is making a dedi
cation to rush. Our goal is to initiate 20-25 men.
If you would like to have a party, or have names of rushees, or
any suggestions, please contact Bruce Baugher, our rush chairman.
Signing day is July 1 and we would like good graduate support in this
activity. The "Signing Party" will be held at the house that night.
Otir other rush parties will be held in Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Stillwater,
and Muskogee. We will be contacting you when we have a party in your
area. Please plan on helping out in rush anyway you can. Steve
Pittman and Jim Tredway will be contacting you as soon as they compile
a
l i s t of rushees.

Party, Party, Party,Fiji Style
We have once again expanded Sigma Omicron's Fiji Island to a two
day party(April 22-23) with the first night being a rush party and
the second night for the brothers and thier dates. The party has also
been expanded to include a larger portion of the yard.
It promises
to be one of the best island parties yet.
Our Norris Pig Dinner was held at the Hilton Inn on February 12,
1983 in Tulsa. We had approximatily 100 brothers attend this year,
coming from various regions of the U.S. Sigma Omicron would like to
thank the following people for attending: Joseph Bush of Houghton, LA.
for traveling the farthest; Robert Lyle Williams, one of our charter
members; and Bob Murphy, for being our guest speaker. We would also
like to express our congratulations to the following brothers for
thier awards: Mark McBumett, Model Pledge; Chris Lord, Outstanding
Senior and Most Athletic; Charles Martin, Most Outstanding Scholarship;
and Steve Pittman,Outstanding Graduate.
Our other formal party of the year. Purple Garter, was held on
November 20,
City.
1982 which was held at the Marland Mansion in Ponca
Highlight of the evening was Mom Hedrick, with escort Jim
Tredway, presents at the dinner.

\r\nKeep the G.P.A. Going
The Fijis at Oklahoma State are proud to annoTince that we are
third on campus out of twenty-four fratemies for the second semester
in a row in G.P.A. for the year of 1982. With grade points down all
over campus, we manage to maintain third with a 2.7 on a 4.0 scale.
With this, Sigma Omicron was awarded Most Improved Fraternity
Academically for 1982. We are hoping to rush a sharp pledge class
and take number one this year.
