\r\nLAMBDA NU TODAY
FROM THE PRESIDENT
Perhaps it would be best to begin by
offering a bit of an explanation for the
prolonged absence of "Lambda Nu
Today." As most of the Lambda Nu
Fijis know, the chapter was rather low
in manpower last year and simply did
not have the funds available to publish
the paper. However, this year is an
other story, as the saying goes. Thanks
to a highly successful rush program and
some vital changes in our rush week
procedure, we are happy to say that the
Fijis "whomped" the campus and
pledged 36 men. Indeed, this was our
most successful rush program in years.
In this respect, many thanks are 'due
Tom Gilliland, our rush chairman; to
those alums who gave so willingly of
their time and money to aid us in our
rush program; and last but not least,
a pat on the back to each and every
member of the chapter for producing
PIG DINNER NEWS
Brothers, it is again time to be look
ing forward to the Annual Norris Pig
Dinner. The date has been set for the
Saturday evening of November 2nd.
Nebraska has their Homecoming game
against Kansas in the afternoon.
Last year a Buffet Dinner was held
for Fiji wives in the Lincoln Hotel.
This was quite successful, so arrange
ments have been made for another one
this year.
The tentative speaker is Mr. Armand
Spizzirri. The reason I say tentative
is because he at present does not know
if he will be home or in California on
business.
He said he would be glad
to accept the invitation if he is not
busy and that he will call me in the
next few days. He is a very good

ten years with the Boy Scouts of Amer
ica, has been a member of the J.C.'s
concerned that we are making every ef
fort to exhibit the positive side of our
Society of Kansas City, Missouri. Just
when the chips were down.
At the present time, the chapter is on
conduct probation as a result of an un
fortunate incident last spring. However,
and has served on the Public Relations
in case he can't accept, we are consider

community so that this burden may be
lifted as soon as possible. The spirit is
high and "More Phi Gam, Less Self" is
the byword of every active, pledge, and
Richard H. Crowder, Educational Direc
repledge.
We are looking forward to November
2nd when the annual Norris Pig Din

We think that this year will result in
a stronger and more unified chapter
and sincerely hope that we will have

LAST YEAR'S NEWS
Frankly, I don't know what's news
and what isn't since this little paper

As usual, graduation took its toll and
young men went out to positions or on
to other schools for further education;
still others took up their temporarily

five of our boys and they are now;
Doctors, William C. Melcher, David W.

graduated "Cum Laude." Adding these
to my former boys who wield stetho

has been for several months general

position is most lucrative but has one
big drawback in that it entails a great

Phi Gamma Delta. The various efforts
of the Alumni in securing our current
pledge class is greatly appreciated by
the house.
In the future the house is
going to set up a permanent rushing
program. Let the house know through
out the year about any prospects so the
rushees can be contacted from time to
time. A rushing program should not be
known as "Summer Rushing." It is a
year around activity.
Another project is to resume publica
tion of "Lambda Nu Today." A related
function is to get our alumni files in
order so everyone will receive all house
publications, notices on Pig Dinner, etc.
Please ask any alumni you see if they
have received this paper, and if not, for
them to immediately forward the house
their correct address. The only way we
can pick up the missing and strayed is
for them to be contacted by another
member.
