PHI GAffIA DELTA BUILDING ASSOCIATION
Dear Brother:
For those of you who attended last year's Norris Dinner, much of this
will be old news. Lambda Omga continues to thrive. The active
Chapter comprises 43 undergraduate, active members and a soon to be
initiated pledge class of
These numbers are consistent with the
pattern achieved by the Capter in the past few years. While the
numbers are great, especially given the fact the brothers are still
managing to maintain a traditional L.O. Fiji experience, they do cause
tremendous pressure on the physical plant that has been the Chapter's
home since 1966.
Over the past two years, the Building Association, or House
Corporation as some of you know it, has explored alternatives that
would provide an improved facility. Due to a variety of zoning, civic
and real estate market issues, we have decided to expand the existing
facility rather than ta^^the^HiispteT^'to a new address.
John Nicholson, an architect and Lambda Omega graduate, has drawn up
plans that will provide the Chapter with the additional space
required.
His plans call for an addition to the rear of the house
that wi11 :
-
Increase the sleeping capacity to 12
Expand common living/dining/study areas to suit.
Expand washroom and cooking facilities.
Provide for a proper C.R. to house a 60 man Chapter.
We, on the Executive of the Building Association, are excited about
this expansion and the promise it holds for the Chapter.
Two things must happen in order to make this a reality. Firstly, we
must receive civic approval. In that regard, first rate counsel has
been retained to enable us to clear zoning and apply for a building
permit. We believe we will have it for the summer 1989 or 1990 at the
latest. Secondly, the economics of the new building indicate that
some $20,000 must be raised from a building campaign.
regard, this letter is being written.

We have designed a program that will allow all of our graduates to
participate in the ongoing success of Phi Gamma Delta at Western.
The attached schedule, lists the various ways that individuals and/or
groups can donate to their Chapter. These donations will be used
strictly for building purposes. They will not be funnelled into
general Chapter or Building Association's spending plans. The fund is
very clearly one for the future and will do what the auction of the
Pig's head was often intended to do. I encourage all of you to
support one of the finest experiences young men can have in a positive
way.
The Association will be presenting its plans for the future at our
General Meeting at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4th at the Ramada
Hotel (formerly the Park Lane) in London.
See you there.

P.S.
Please bear in mind that Phi Gamma Delta at Western has three
entities; The Undergraduate Chapter, whose purpose needs no
explanation, the Ad Hoc Graduate Chapter, whose purpose is to continue
fraternal association for graduates and assist the Undergraduate
Chapter via the creation of a BCA, and the Building Association, a not
for profit company, whose purpose is to provide and maintain a
physical facility for the Undergraduate Chapter. •

CAPITAL BUILDING FUND PLAN
1.
All brothers will be solicited to donate money of a non-refund
able, non-tax credit nature in the following amounts.
Bronze Level
Silver Level
Gold Level
Platinium
2.
-
$ 100.00
$ 250.00
$ 500.00
$1,000.00
A donation of the above amount will result in enrollment on the
appropriate level Honour Roll Plaque, which will be permanently
displayed in the expanded facility. The honour roll will list
name and class year for each amount donated at that level.
3.
Should a class or faculty wish to pool their efforts, or should
an individual do so on his own, a donation of $5,000.00 will
result in the naming of a building component after the donor. For
example: "The Class of '71-Dining Room". A suitable plaque will
be placed over the door to commemorate the occasion.
4.
The Building Association will transfer surplus funds from the
operating budget of the Association. Currently, this budget is
made up of revenues from the house rental income, but brothers are
reminded that in February 1988, at it's General Meeting, the
Association created a $25.00 Annual fee for all Lambda Omega
graduates who wish to become or remain members of the Building
Association.
