DELTA XI ON THE MOVE
By Michael Gridley '65, Chapter President
It is my pleasure to report that the un
dergraduate chapter is once more on the

moye.
With a great summer and fall rush, un
der the guidance of Rush Chairman Mi
chael Durney '65, our chapter received
a pledge class of 16 men. Then the seme
ster rolled along with very few problems,
mainly due to the fact that the bills did not
have to be raised.
This semester has started off even bet
ter than last. Already we have 10 dedi
cated new initiates who have shown great
desire to contribute to the chapter during
Hell Week, which has just been concluded
and proved to be one of the best and most
constructive held for rhany years.

DELTA XI ON THE MOVE
By Mike Gridley . . Continued from page 1
Our overall condition is very good, but
we continue tO strive to make it excellent.
The officers and some of the alumni advi
sers have gone over our notes receivable
account. We have decided to make an
all-out effort to collect some of these notes
in order to build, up a reserve. If there
are any note holders reading this, we
would appreciate your cooperation in this
important matter.
But enough of us, for a while. We are
interested in finding out how you, the alumni, are doing. There's no better way
to find this out, of course, than your at
tendance at the big event of the year,
"Pig Dinner". The date has been set for
Saturday, April 3. We are hereby invit
ing, personally, all alumni to the Delta
Xi chapter house on that day. Many sur
prises have been scheduled. The dinner
this year should not be missed.
Further information about "Pig Dinner"
will be relayed to you later, but do not
forget that date, Saturday, April 3.
In closing, 1 would like to extend our
warm appreciation to the members of the
Mothers Club for the unselfish efforts

The one given December 12th last year
was a real treat for these unfortunate
youngsters. Such worthy events are

"GRASS SKIRT" AMONG SPRING EVENTS
The famous "Grass Skirt", known to
some as the "Fiji Islander", is scheduled
for May 15. This elaborate affair, among
other social events, has been a large suc

the undergraduate chapter. Any help,
even if direct participation is not possi

even greater one this year.

HOUSE UNDERGOES SPRING CEEANING
During the beginning week of the spring
semester, the brothers gave their house
a clean sweep from the outside to the in
side, from the top floor to the bottom.
Since the mid-terms were off in the dis
tance, the members were provided with an
opportunity to clean, wax, polish, dust,
paint and accomplish any other task that
goes with improving a house. This oppor
tunity, called House Improvement Week,
consisted of rugs and carpets being rolled
up, carried outside, and cleaned until they
looked like new again.
The brothers with carpeting skills re
paired the roof deck, sand-spotting rooms
on the second floor, while others followed
behind them with paint cans and brushes.
ALL-U BOXING CHAMPS are, from your
left jab to your right jab: Cowan '66, Kropp
'66, Hill '66 and Bertagnoli '66.
A visitor would now find the new look co
vering the house, in the form of newlypainted doors, roof deck, rooms, as well
as a newly-paneled fireplace and spacious
garage, both cleaned and whitewashed.
Realizing the importance of outside ap
pearance, the members finished off a busy
week by washing and scrubbing all around
the house, ending with a clean, white front
porch that looks like an invitation to drop in.
FIJIS REIGN IN INTRAMURAL BOXING
The members, competing in seven in
tramural sports since last September,
have already won two All-University
Championships, boxing and skiing. In the
remaining events, they are undefeated in
basketball and squash, and are rated among the favorites in soccer, baseball
and weight-lifting.
In the University boxing tournament,
Pete Cowan '66 of San Francisco won in

In order to assure a large and well-qual

the one last year, alumni support is needed.
