PRESIDENT'S DINNER - Monday, February 26, 1973
The Koran Club, 3443 Euclid Avenue, will be the site of this annual affair.
Fee parking is available in the lighted, supervised lot immediately adjacent to
the club.
The social hour will begin at 5:45 p.m. (cash bar, of course!). A full
course dinner, including Tenderloin Tips with Burgundy Sauce, will be served
about 7:00.
In spite of current inflationary trends, the price of the meal is
only $6.00.
Following the dinner, your officers promise to keep their remarks to a
minimum so that we can all direct our attention to our featured speaker, William
Lee Birch, who will narrate the movie "Safari Fantistico." Mr. Birch is the only
man in the world licensed as a professional hunter in Africa, India and Argentina.
His movie concerns hunting and fishing in the Mato Grosso of Brazil.
Our theme for this year is "Gome and Bring a Brother!"
We extend special
invitations to our brothers whose faces we haven't seen for a while and to
brothers new in the Cleveland area.
and renewing old ones!
We look forward to making new friendships
Reservations are necessary. For reservations, send your check, together
with the attached form, to Jim Williams; or call him at 861-5000 by February 22,

REPORT ON THE ANNUAL STAG FIJI SMOKER
At our annual Smoker held November 16, 1972, at the Xi Deuteron Chapter
House, the following officers for 1973 were elected:
President
Harry L. Davis (CWRU '37)
Sr. Vice President
Emmett Pedley (CWRU '32)
Vice President
Bill Reid (Lehigh '51)
Treasurer
Jim Williams (Miami '66)
Secretary
Bob Niebaum (CWRU '69)
Asst. Treasurer
Bob Goble (Miami '63)
Asst. Secretary
Ken Kovach (CWRU '67)
Retiring President Bill Lapham (Texas Tech '60) reported that we had 175
dues paying members in 1972, compared with 159 in 1971, 185 in 1970, and 143 in
1969.
\r\n-2-
The semi-annual scholarship awards were made to Xi Deuteron undergraduates.
John Christakis (CWRU '75) recorded a 3.3 as the highest pledge average in the
Spring semester of 1972. He is a natural science major from New York City. His
name will be engraved on the scholarship plaque in the chapter house. Frank Ailes
(CWRU '73) showed the biggest improvement from the Fall semester of 1971 to the
Spring semester of 1972 (1.8 to 3.2). This history major from California will
receive a Phi Gamma Delta ring and will have his name engraved on the scholarship
plaque in the chapter house.
The usual reports and speeches were kept to a minimum to allow plenty of time
for fun and fellowship. While the turnout was very good, we were sorry to miss
more than a couple familiar faces from years past. Were you there?
WEEKLY LUNCHEONS
All Fiji's are invited to the weekly luncheons held each Tuesday at noon
in the Main Dining Room of the Cleveland Athletic Club.
1973 DUES
Please (if you haven't already done so) send Jim Williams your 1973 dues ($5).
Phases I, II, III and inflation notwithstanding, our annual dues have not increased
during the last few years.
