PIG DINNER
Sigma Mu's fourth annual Norris Pig Dinner will he held on
March 31st at the Holiday Inn in Columbus, Mississippi. Our guest
speaker will be Bud Mangels, Ritualist for the National Fraternity,
who was instrumental in the installation of our chapter a few years
ago. Don Fu^on, our new section chief, will also be a guest of the
dinner and v;i3.1 speak to everydne present. This dinner will be the
highlight of the semester and we are looking for a good turnout from
our graduates, as v/ell as Fijis in the state. If anyone is unable
to attend,
write us and.we will read it at the Pig Dinner.

BROTHER EIECTSD IFC OFFICER
Sigma Mu chapter continues to be well-represented in student
affairs on campus. Leigh Hummer, sophomore from Macon, was recentlyelected secretary-treasurer for the Interfraternity Council. Since
Leigh had previously been a representative in the IFC, Jimmy Sneed,
freshman from Tunica, was selected to become Sigma Mu*s new repre
sentative. Franklin Myers was past president of the IFC,
PARENTS' DAY
On April 28, Sigma Mu chapter is having its second Parents|
Day. Invitations have been sent out by the special events commit
tee, headed by Winston Earnheart, to all parents of Sigma Mu mem
bers. Dinner will be served buffet style at the Holiday Inn in
Starkville with a reception at the house afterward.
Since last
year's Parents* Day was such a success, everyone is looking forward
to a good turnout this year.
FIJIS TRAVEL
Several brothers have been busy traveling to places outside
""the state and country. "Ro'bert Siedell attended tihe-National
Entertainment Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, February 17-^21. He
v-'as representing IVBU's Student Union and met with other students
from universities across the nation.
Greg Mann recently was in Washington, D.C. and^met with
headquarters staff in interviewing for the job of field secretary.
Bill Mattox also was recently in V/ashington^and New York City
enroute to a week's vacation in Austria.
V/hile in Washington, Bill
met with headquarters staff and in New York visited Charles Graham.
He then enjoyed a week's stay in Austria snow skiing and tonricg,
HOUSE CORPORATION MEETS
On Friday, March 9th, Sigma Mu's House Corporation met in
Jackson at the River Hills Club. Several of the brothers attended
along with the Board of Directors. Discussions included matters
pertaining to the fraternity and also the plans for the upcoming
Pig Dinner.
\r\nFIELD SECRETARY VISITS
This past weekend our chapter was pleased to have Bill Young,
one of the fraternity's field secretaries, visit us. Bill is a
graduate of the University of Tennessee and is a graduate "brother
of Kappa Tau chapter. He inspected our chapter and talked with
chapter officers and committee chairman, giving suggestions on
every phase of the chapter's operation. While here. Bill also
attended the Black Diamond Formal.
BLACK DIAMOND FORMAL
Sigma Mu's first Black Diamond Formal was held Saturday night,
March 1?, 1973. iri Columbus at the Civic Center in the new Leigh
Mall. It had been scheduled to b& at the Riverraont, but due to
flooding it was changed to the Civic Center. It turned out that
only the next day the entire Leigh Mall was under water, but lucky
for us the flooding v/aited for us to have a successful formal;
Over one hundred people attended and everyone expressed the
fact that it indeed was a success.
The band Hannibal from
Hattiesburg played a big part in making the formal enjoyable.
Everyone was glad to see graduate Jerry Vifelch there and wished
more graduates could have attended.
BROTHER MARRIES
Curtis McNeer, v/ho graduated from MSU last semester and v/as
one of Sigma Mu's earliest members, was recently married to Miss
Cheryl Elisabeth Graves in the Providence Baptist church ofv
Meadville. Several of the brothers attended the ceremony.
COAST PARTY
On the weekend of April 6-7, a party is planned in Biloxi.
Everyone will be staying at the Rountowner.- A great time is
e:-:p9cted so plan to go.
