Rush!
'After our first Rush weekend at the house,
Dan Krones,
Rush Chairman, is highly pleased about our chances for an out
standing pledge class next>year. Turnout for both nights was
quite large, as many seniors from Columbia Hickman and Rock
Bridge high schools came by to enjoy some FIJI hospitality.
Unfortunately, bad weather prevented a better out-of-town
showing. Dan looks for more of them to show up at the March
26th Casino Party, FIJI Island on April l6th, and even Chi
Mu's canoe trip April 1st and 2nd.
Even though we've got a lot of people to rush now, we
definitely need more bright, active, and sociable young men.
If you know of any people whom you'd like to see become mem
bers of Phi Gamma Delta, call or write Dan at the house (4429515 or 449-1578) or at work at Mr. Guy's, I30 South 9th,
Columbia, 449-8411 (If Dan isn't there
have_a friendly chat
with Rick Halterman, our new Purple Legionnaire.). We're
also looking for places that we can hold 2 rush parties each
in Kansas City and St. Louis, as well as at the house in
Columbia. Any help you can give Dan and our Rush program
will be greatly appreciated by all of us.
Pig Dinner
Pig Dinner will be held April 23rd this year, since many
of you will also be attending Law Day that same day. Speak
ers are being contacted as well as places to hold the dinner.
If you need help with hotel reservations or anything else,
feel free to contact Mark Packers at the house (442-9515 or
442-8820).
We hope you can attend and make this year's
dinner even better than last year's.

President's Message
Dear Graduate Brothers,
Hello! I'm the new Chapter President. My name is Pete
Cargill and I'm a sophomore majoring in accounting. Some of
you might know my brother Pat, who was in the Chi Mu graduating
class of 1975' I plan to work hard as president and I guaran
tee that you will see attitudihal ahd physical improvements
in the house by next fall's football games.
However, to begin with, I believe a policy of honesty is
the best approach in everything. Therefore, I will not attempt
to paint a rosy picture of the Chi Mu Chapter at this time.
For the last several years, our chapter has encountered many
problems of varying degrees. We have been able to surmount
these problems, but have been hurt in the process. Some of
these problems are still with us and include such typical
fraternity afflictions as apathy, accounts receivable, and
physical maintenance of the house. We have also been hurt by
a very poor scholastic showing one and a half years ago, in
creasing disillusionment with the traditional pledge training,
and the loss of such personable FIJI trademarks as Gerald and
Mom Richards. However, I honestly believe we are turning the
corner and are starting to rebound.
A good, strong rush, however, is absolutely essential
for the full recovery of the house to its former prestige.
Some of our past and present problems (AR's, apathy, grades)
would be largely alleviated by the rush of a group of respon
sible, energetic, and academically inclined young men. By
having a large pledge class, we would also have many more funds
to spend to improve the physical condition of the house. I
realize the House Corporation doesn't have a stockpile of
money, therefore we must generate extra funds through increased
revenues from housebills. I hope you can see the importance
of rush to the chapter. Accordingly, I urge (or plead) with
you to help us with rush by sending in the names of strong
young men. We're all Chi Mu's and I hope we all feel a cer
tain tinge of responsibility to upgrade it and rush is clear
ly the most direct way.
I realize that I'm tackling a difficult responsibility,
one fraught with many problems. However, my philosophy is
that of persistence and therefore I will continue to work
diligently for the chapter. In view of the circumstances,
however, I would really appreciate any moral, advisory, or
whatever support you can give to the chapter and myself.
Fraternally yours,
Pete Cargill
President

Littie Sisters
The Little Sister program has led an active life in the
house this year. Under th/e leadership of Presidents Joanne
Cans and Betty Calvert, and house coordinator John Knoepker,
the 80 Daughters of the Mack Diamond have proved once again
their worth to the men of Phi Gamma Delta. Among their ac
tivities this year were a highly successful Halloween Party,
Christmas Formal, and s^eral keggers. Future activities
include the FIJI Island/Luau on Friday, April 15th and a
service project for th^ house parking lot.
Initiation ceremonies for 30 Little Sister pledges were
held Sunday, February/27th.
Under the new leadership of
coordinator Rex Walle/>, the Little Sisters look forward to

The Editor's Two Cents
After two years, the FIJI Missourian is hack in business.
Two newsletters and one Missourian will be printed each semester.
Unfortunately, this takes a lot of money-postage for this issue
alone is well over $200.
we need your help, too.
We hope to raise $600 ourselves, but
We also need news about what you're
doing, so please send us anything you can so we .can fulfill
our duty to you.
Fraternally yours.
