team All-Conference and MVP fo r the last
two seasons. This would have been a much
better one, but Marty has been sidelined

been sidelined, Marty has still managed to
become Allegheny's all-time leading
scorer and also recently became the first
person to gain 1,000 points in his career.
Dave and Tim have both seen limited
action with Gators.

FIJIS-Another strong aspect of
Allegheny's Intercollegiate Sports
The 1976 football season brought the
President's Athletic Conference Championship to the 6-2 Allegheny Gators. The
successful season was highlighted by the
excellent performances of several members of Phi Gamma Del ta. Heading the
list was sophomore Charles Lazar who's
outstanding play at defensive halfback
gave him a place on the PAC's Defensive
First Team and his eight interceptions
ranked him seventh nationally among
Division III leaders. Other selections to
the PAC allstar team were: senior, team
captain Dal Lillard (Second Team Defense,
LB), junior Bob Swartz (Second Team
Defense, DT), and Greg McNeal receiving
an honorable mention at his defensive
tackle position. On offense, junior Philip
Spina's performance at center gained him
a spot on the second team.
Other Fiji performers con tributing to
the championship season were: senior
wide-receiver Thomas Del Fratte, senior
defensive back Dean Adams, junior
defensive end Rick Boughton, junior
defensive back Jeff Pinkham, junior offensive tackle Ted McClain, junior defensive tackle Dennis Zimmerman , sophomore tailback Russ Madonia, sophomore
defensive back William Law, sophomore
offensive guard Mike Veon, sophomore
kicking specialist Nick Nardone, and
sophomore wide-receiver Bill Anderson.
The Allegheny College Gator's basketball team has three FIJI brothers on it:
Marty Orzechowski '77, Tim Feeney '79,
Marty Orzechowski
The intramural football scene saw the
Fiji's battle back from a first round loss to
place third in the fraternity competition.
The players were: Ken Cramer, Max
Dudzic, Tim X. Feeney , Scot Nixon, Jeff
Gora, Frank Boroni, Ron Pezzino, Dave
Ferguson, Nick Sacco, and Jim Nelson.
In a rebuilding wrestling program at
Allegheny College, the performances of
two Phi Garns standout. At 177 lbs.,
junior Bob Swartz's superb record of 7
victories against 2 defeats leads all Gator
grapplers. Not far behind at 167 is Ron
Pezzino with a record of 5 and 3. A
senior, Ron has been plagued with injuries
for the past two years and his dedication
and determination has lead to his excellent
comeback in the 1976 season.

Field Secretary William A. Martin, III

meeting, one of our Bible study classes
here at the house, and helped us conduct
a ritual meeting. The Brothers here at Pi

\r\nHouse Improvement
The coming of the 1976-77 Allegheny
school year has brought with it considerable improvements in the living conditions at the Pi Chapter House . Following
extensive vandalism this past summer,
and increased interest in improving the
house's conditions by the chapter members has brought about a consorted effort
upon bringing the house up i.u standards
not seen in recent years. Along with substantial work done on the personal living
areas of the house, some noticeable improvements in the house social areas have
been completed , or have been proposed
for completion in the near fut ure .
The most noticeable change in the Pi
Chapter House may be in the living
quarters of its resident members. The
twenty-one brothers who now reside in
the house have spent considerable time
and effort rebuilding their personal living
areas , making life at the house more
comfortable and adding to its overall attractiveness. Yards of carpeting, sheets of
paneling, and gallons of paint - all paid
for by the brothers - have brought the
living quarters to standards unequaled by
any fraternity on the Allegheny campus.
The aging on the Allegheny "FIJI"
_____
house, constructed in 1913, has made it
necessary for some extensive work on
some especially bad situations. Early in
the fall term an electrician was called in
to do work on the house's electrical systems amounting to a total rewiring of the
basement. Another improvement was the
addition of a baseboard heating system in
the basement and Chapter room areas.
Also taken care of was a total overhauling
of all door locks and the addition of door
bolts in the hopes of discouraging any

further vandalism between terms. Proposed and scheduled for completion in
the near future is the total reconstruction
of a set of basement stairs presently in
deplorable condition.
These latest repairs , along with other
minor improvements , and the total revamping of the living areas, has brought
the house to a level of respect among the
college community and exemplifies the
pride the brothers of Pi Chapter have for
their fraternity.
