KAPPA OMICRON INITIATES 17 SPRING TERM
Seventeen outstanding young men were initiated into Kappa Omicron chapter
of Phi Gamma Delta April 20th.
New brothers Jay Maher, Jeff Martin, and Tim Vrtiska hail from Corvallis,
while Ed Gressett, Jon Hudson, Dave Minneci, Larry Six, and Mike Offord call
Medford their home.
Mike Nease and Jim Thoreson come from Cottage Grove, while Don Petty
and Doug Richmond are from Roseburg. Mike Easter (Lake Oswego), Jerry
McBurney (Albany), Steve Scott (Madison of Portland), Jack Holmes (Central
Catholic of Portland) and Dana St. Louis (Milwaukie) complete the remainder of
the latest additions to the brotherhood.
All men listed are freshmen except for brother Offord, who is a sophomore.
PIG DINNER
LARGE SUCCESS
The Oregon State version of the traditional Norris Pig Dinner was held in the
Mayfair Room of the Benson Hotel in Portland May 17th. Archon Treasurer Donald
E. Johnson (K. O. '36) related a few of his experiences gained from his travel
around the country in service to Phi Gamma Delta and further cautioned the brothers
that the so-called "drug problem" is spreading.
Some seventy brothers were in attendance (including over twenty alumni from
the Portland area).
Ken Ross, '71, was the chairman for the event, with Bill
Graham, '70, assisting.
FIJIS REMAIN STRONG ON
CAMPUS
Ken Ross, '71, was elected to the 1st vice-president position of the Oregon
State student body this term, while Chris Drury, '70, and Bob Tomasovic, '71,
were elected sergeants-at-arms of their respective classes. Bill Graham, '70,
is helping brother Drury as a member of the senior senate-activities council.

awards banquet this term. Brother Ross is in Electrical Engineering.
ENYART INKS WITH BUFFALO

Buffalo Bills of the AFL, In addition to brother Enyart, three other K. O. men
made the first team Fiji All-American football squad this fall, Steve Preece
(quarterback) and Jerry Belcher (defensive end) are now through with eligibility,
while Bill Main (wingback) returns for his senior year for Dee Andros.
FIJIS SHOW
VERSATILITY IN ATHLETICS

the national AAU post-season wrestling meet at 152 lbs. , rugby letterman Ken
Dobberpuhl, '71 , and Bill More, '69, two-time monogram man in basketball.
Hope for the future comes in the form of Jerry McBurney, '72, who will be
following in the footsteps of brother Main on the football team. Jerry and Tom
Rosendahl, '72, defensive halfback, are both nursing knee injuries at the present
time, but should be ready for fall.
In the IM leagues. K. O. grabbed the league Softball crown, while Dale
Campbell, '69, and Terry Dunn, '71, were number-three in the all-school bad
minton tourney.

men, v/hile Tom Emang recently returned to OSU as an academic sophomore after
serving as a lieutenant in the Army in Vietnam.
GRADUATE
GUIDE
"OUTSTANDING'
The Kappa Omicron Graduate Guide published this term has been termed
"outstanding," "excellent," and all manner of complementary words. Compiled,
designed, and edited by Bill Graham, '70, it lists all 694 living K. O. brothers
alphabetically, and geographically by zip code.
In addition to its being a boon to alumni looking for "lost" brothers it will
strengthen our chapter records tremendously. Other fringe benefits include its
helping in our bid for the Brightman Award (alumni relations) and the Coon Plaque
( publications).
However, a publication like this does not grow on trees
we would sincerely
appreciate it if those graduate brothers who would like to further our cause would
drop us some coins to help defray the expenses involved in the Guide. Make checks
payable to "Phi Gamma Delta" and send any monies to:

Already brother Cy Gates, "27, has contributed generously while C. H. "Scram"
Graham, '35, has sent us several bills. We are looking forward to hearing from
the rest of our alumni in the near future.

ALUMNI NOTES
George D. "Puss" Graves, '24, paid a visit to the chapter house on the occasion

is some forty years out of school, he stated in the chapter meeting he attended that
he was still "mighty glad to be a Fiji."

for the farewell banquet for OSU president J. H. Jensen May 27th; at that time, he
said he was done with his interim position of Dean of Agriculture at the University
of Nevada in Reno, and he would be visiting the southwest part of the U. S. in the
near future.
