Dear Brothei:s,
"To aTT the good people and my Brothers at Phi Gamma Delta. ^ Darcey
and I want to thank all of you for showing good old fashioned ^ji
hospitality and making us feel so welcomed and comfortable during our
visit,
"Darcey knew for sure that I came from good stock after she saw what
was responsible for three years of my life.
"We hope that some of you Brothers can put together a convoy to come
to the wedding — you men had better bring your Housemother ri^t along
with you!
"Again, much thanks and don't think I forget about you."
Fraternally,

Editor's Note - John Herman, Greg Wilson, Seavey Anthony, and Mike Morris
attended Dave's wedding. The Friday nig^t before the wedding all of the
Brothers visited several local establishments where Dave started biting
the exterior portions of some of the establishment's female patrons.
After the wedding on Saturday, the four Fijis motored up to Chicago to
visit Jay Vanier, who is with the Chicago Bears sports information staff.
Greg Wilson learned how a farm boy can get taken in a big city. After
the Bears football game. Jay introduced the Fijis to several Honeybears.
The Kansas State Phi Gams broke into the Northwestern University Phi Gamma
Delta chapter house at 3 a.m. by entering a window. All of the Northwestern
Fijis were asleep. Apparently there are no all-ni^t marathon poker
sessions at Northwestern.
DOUG HURLEY ('70 Miami)
Dear Brothers,
"I would like to thank you and the Brothers of the Kansas State
Fiji Chapter for the fine Fiji hospitality which you extended to me
recently. The food was excellent and the company warm and friendly.
'Not for college days alone* spirit is really evident in your chapter.
I congratulate you on the achievements of your chapter to date and I
know the future holds many more. If I can be of service to the chapter
collectively, or 0 individual Brothers, please do not hesitate to
contact me.
,.
j
"Again, thanks for your hospitality. I look forward to seeing
you soon."

What is a Fraternity?
"A Fraternity is an association of men, selected in their college days
by democratic processes, because of their adherence to common ideals and
aspirations. Out of their association arises a personal relation which makes
them unselfishly seek to advance one another in the arts of life and to add,
to the formal instruction of the college curriculum, the culture and character
which men acquire by contact with great personalities, or when admitted
to partnership in great traditions.
"A fraternity, too, is of such character that after men have left college
they delight to renew their ovm youth by continued association with it and
to bring their richest experiences back to the younger generation in part
of the debt which they feel themselves to owe to the fraternity for what it
gave them in their foimiative years."
Newton D. Baker (John Hopkins '92, Washington
and Lee '9^)
Secretary of War, and a Fiji.
