TREASURER'S REPORT
As the first term of the new cabinet rolls along t here are many
changes taking place in the f inancial structure of the house.
Assista nt Treasurer Steve Funk and myself are in the process of
reo rganizing the accou nt ing system for Pi Chapter. This entails
mak ing up a separate acc ount for everything that money is
spen t on. In the p ast we have w o rked on a budget based on four
accoun ts. The new system that we are working on is bud geted
for th i rt y or so accounts. On ce the system is installed it will be
easie r to keep track of t he bu dgeted mo ney.
Fi nanc ially, Pi Ch apte r is in good sh ape . We are still rega rded
as a financ ial ly stro n g Chapter by the Internation al Fratern ity. I
would like t o thank past treasurer Kyl e Lengaue r. Kyle spent a
great deal of time working with me to make my transition easy.

CORRESPONDING SECRETARY
As Pi Chapter heads into the 1990's it can reflect on 1989 with
tremendous pride . Throughout the last year, Pi Chapter has
reached new heights. However, the challenges of the future are
what the brotherhood will be anticipating while looking for the
success that is expected from the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta.
An area that the brotherhood has put a great deal of work into
is our academic standing. For the past three terms Pi Chapter
has had the highest grade point average among fraternities on
campus. Faculty and administration alike have commented on
the hard work that Pi Chapter has shown in the classroom . Five
of our brothers have been named Alden Scholars for maintaining
a G .P.A . of 3.3 or better for three consecut ive terms , and eight
more achieved a 3.67 or better during the fall term . We have also
taken f i rst place the past three terms for the hi ghest grade point
average among al l fraternities . All of the brotherhood has taken
pride in this fact and will cont in ue to st rive for academic
excellence.
T he philanthropy committee resurrected the Haunted House
- -aft.er a y.ea~--t+i.atus . Thab.roth ers__of e· Chapter worked with the
siste rs of Kap pa Alp ha Theta and t he Student Ex perimental
Theater to create a series of scary scenes, including evil witches
and a chainsaw massacre. A good time was had by all while four
hun d red dollars was raised for Greenhouse , a local shelter for
battered women .
Th e FIJl's once again are well represented throughout the
c ampus community. We currently lead all other Greek organizati o ns with 2 resident directors and 3 resident advisors. The Phi
Gam's also hold 3 of the 12 positions on the honor committee
wh ile also holding two positions on the Inter-Fraternal Counci l
board.
In the athletic circle we had two brothers representing us as
captains of the wrestling team and the ten varsity letter winners
in football and one varsity golfer.
The hard work put forth by the brotherhood can once again be
seen through the 16 young men that we took for ou r second term
pledge class. Pi Chapter is also proud to announce the initiation
of Jerry O'Brien from our first term pledge class . Jerry is
pursuing a history degree while also leading the football team as
an outstanding tailback .
Gradu ate Brothers and those from other Ch apters to co me visit
Pi Ch apter and join us in our Quest for Excellence.
Perge!

excited for what we can accomplish . Our new cabinet shows
great enthusiasm, FIJI Pride, and the capability to continue Pi
Chapter's excellence.

PAST PRESIDENT'S REFLECTIONS
My congratulations to the new Cabinet members: Apollo ,
Dave, Curt, Sean, and Bill. As I am sure you are aware, being an
officer in a fraternity is an exciting yet difficult and demanding
task. Today more so than before, the officers must be conscious
of it's relationship to the college and community. The time and
energy devoted to this task in the last few years has been
outstanding. The brothers of Pi Chapter have demonstrated that
no goal is out of reach.
Honors, such as placing first in Scholarship for three consecutive terms, placing in the Condon, McCarty and Owen
competition, and being voted the 1988-89 most interfraternal
chapter on Allegheny's campus, have shown that Pi Chapter is
defin itely on it's Quest for Excellence.
I wou ld especially like to thank those of you that have stayed
in touch with us over the years. All of the hard work and
dedication from the undergraduates is mostly appreciated when
we can share it with you.
Thank you for a wonderful year.
Perge!
Fraternally,
James P. Sw eeney (' 90)
Pl CHAPTER AND SOCIAL SERVICE
In the upcoming year Pi Cha pter is loo king forw ard t o
continuing on our Road to Excellence. We hope t o ach ieve th is
by taking a very active role in Soci al Servi ce aga in t hi s yea r. We
w ill cont inue to have our Community C leanu p Prog ram in
downtown Meadville, which we began last year, as w ell as
sponsoring a child through the "Save The Chil d ren O rga nization " . In addition, this year we are initiating an " Adop t A
Neighbor" program wherein th e brothers w ill be prov id ing
whatever services they can to an elderly nei g hbo r wh o would
appreciate the assistance and companionship. Pi Chapte r's
future plans include a SK or 1OK race f o r fun a nd char it y, as well
as a visit to a local nursing hom e. Pi Chapter' s past w as
highlighted with many wonderful social service events, and we
are confident the future holds the same .
You can see why the brotherhood at Pi Chapter is very excited
and proud of our accomplishments. I encourage all c-f yo u, ' Perge!
Fraternally,
Mark Ellermeyer ('92)
Ph ilanthropy Chairman
\r\nRUSH!!
As we all know, rush is the most crucial exercise to keep the
fraternity running. This past fall, the brothers of Pi Chapter put
in a great deal of hard work and dedication, which has resulted
in a second term pledge class of 16 fine gentlemen.
Although there was a forty percent drop in the total amount of
men who chose to go greek at Allegheny this year, Pi Chapter
still had a very successful rush , and continues its dominance on
campus. Our new pledges are Asher Akhtar, Ron Bendekovic,
William Day, Robert Ekin, Ed Hall, Todd Hilliard, Dana Jarvis,
Matt Koren, Sean Lattimore, Wayne Mack, Kurt Reiser, J
