PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Dear Brothers,
I hope you will enjoy this newsletter for Winter of 1990.
Sinceour lastcorrespondence, muchhas happened hereat the Zeta
Deuteron ehapter.
To start things off. Recording Secretary Mitch Schmale,
Treasurer Mike "Heat" Brandt, and myself made the long trek to
Columbus, Ohio, for Fiji Academy. The Academyitself wasabout
as interesting as watching icemelt, but I taught Mitch how todrive
stick shift on the way back, so we feel the trip was a success.
Thetrip alsogave usa lotof time (about 15hours of driving)
to think about the chapter's goals for 1989-1990, and somewhere
between Wheeling, West Virginia, and Camp Hill, Pennsylvania,
wecame up with thefollowing: 1)Improve overall house scholar
ship,2) Return to the numberone spot in Intramurals, 3) Make our
committee system more efficient, 4) Improve our Ritual, and 5)
Our pledge class's mid-term grades were significantly higher
than last year, which I think can be attributed, at least in part, to the
work of the scholarship committee.
With intramural football, golf, tennis, racquetball, and the
"Turkey Trot" behind us, we have a solid hold on third place in the
I.M. rankings, and our best sports are yet to come. Increased pledge
participation and better team organization are responsible for our
early success and I am sure that will lead to success in the future.
For the first time that I know of, our committee heads are
actually filing monthly reports of their respective activities, which
alone has made our system more efficient. We have also benefited
from a newly formed committee in charge of novelties and also a
new ritual committee.
In 1989, as it has been since I got here, the Fij enjoys the only
"true brotherhood" on campus, and we intend to maintain that. I
hope that any graduate brotherswhoare passing throughLexington
this year will feel free to stop by the house and hang out with the
brothers for old time's sake. We look forward to seeing you!
Maintain the strong brotherhood which has always been a comer-
Fraternally,
stone of Fiji.
1 am happy to say that, witli fall semester ended, we have
made great progress towards all of these goals.
Pcrge!
