Great strides continue to be made by the undergraduate chapter
to maximize their fraternity experience while at OSU!This facilitates
the duties of the House Corporation and makes a rewarding
experience even richer from my perspective.
On behalf of the undergraduate chapter and the alumni officers
of the Omicron Deuteron Association, please accept our thanks for
It's been an exciting time around the Fiji
house and a lot has happened since the last
Buckeye Fiji went out. First, Omicron
Deuteron has pledged and Initiated 23
brothers. They are extremely eager and are
alreacfy getting Involved with the house. Our
expectations of them are high, but we are
confident that they will help cany FIJI to new
your continued donations to our annu^ dues program. These funds
are a vital part of the maintenance and repair (capital expenditures)
budget for the house. We anticipate kicking off another annual drive
this fall and encourage you to call brothers you know and challenge
them to match or exceed your own donation.
The classes of'60 and '61 are sponsoring the 1991 Norris Pig
Dinner this fall. Brothers Robin Obetz and Joe Berwanger are chair
men of the event. The dinner Is scheduled for Friday, November 1, at

even higher and try to break $8,000.
Finally, the Dickinson Lodge has been
Improved with some new additions. First, a
basketball court was built behind the house
next to the garage. The court was most
welcome and has gotten a lot of use. The
spring pledge class sponsored a three-onthree basketball tournament and an alumni

Parents' Weekend Highlight ofSpring Semester;
Rush and Pig Dinner Are Sure to be Fall's
By John P. Altiere '93, Corresponding Secretary
Patrick Clark '93
So much has been going on at the Omicron Deuteron Chapter that it's
difficult to choose one event to begin with. So, I'll start with the one that
brings the brothers and their families closer together—Parents* Weekend.
This year's Parents'Weekend, held the second week ofApril, was a great
success due largely to the efibrts ofJohn Pritchard '92, who organized the
event. The festivities began with a "home-cooked" brtmch Saturday
afternoon at Dickinson Lodge,£tnd ended at the Embassy Suites Hotel later

that evening. Before dinner, the Mothers' Club held their annual auction,

which rsdsed over $1,000 for their scholarship fund. Thfs year's
scholarships were awarded to seniorSean Alexander(who maintained a4.0
and also received the award for the highest grade point average). Junior
David Hbbits(who won another award for house involvement),sophomore
John Altiere, and freshman Matthew Coma.Other award winners included
Msirk Burrler '93, Stephen Mishkind '93, Michael Roeder '93, Daniel
Sensenbrenner '91 and Charles Verkamp '93. Dinner and the awards
ceremony were followed by the evening's entertainment, Casino Night,
which was enjoyed by brothers and p>arents alike.
Our 15th annual Queen of Hearts marked the most successful year yet
ofour philanthropy. This year we raised over$7,000for the American Heart
Association. Congratulations to Kappa Delta for winning (again!) and
thanks to all of the sororities who participated. In addition. Phi Gamma
Delta won the runner-up trophy in Alpha Tau Omega's 14th annual "FiteNite." All three ofour fighters — Keith Pulkerson'91, Mark Burrier'93 and
Tom Constantiello'93 — successfully defeated their opponents. More good
news:All ofour efforts did notgo unrecognized.On May5we won the"Ohio
State Community Service Award" for the second consecutive year. Along
with those activities already mentioned, we recycled cans, donated blood
and participated in the philanthropies sponsored by other houses.Be sure
to see the trophy in the Fiji trophy case when you stop by the house.
Meanwhile, amidst our involvement in philanthropies and community
service, the brothers of Omicron Deuteron still find time to have fun

And while on the subjectofgood times:Fallis drawing nearer and several
events come to mind. The first Is msh.We have two summer msh functions
planned, one for July and one for late August or esirly September. Any
recommendations for fall rush from graduate brothers would be
appreciated, as we are alwajre happy to receive them. The next fall activity
that provides good times is Buckeye football. It's always great to see the
graduate brothers come to the house and join the undergrads for a
celebration before each home game. And finally, the big event of fall that
everyone anticipates. Pig Diimer. This is the time of the year for graduate
and undergraduate brothers to get together and share some good times.
