BROTHERS COACH YOUTH AT YMCA
We feel it is our duty as members
of the Tuscaloosa community to be
involved with organizations that are
not affiliated with the University of
Alabama.
Brothers Allen Terrell and Tripp
Farrell enthusiastically coached a
basketball team for 10- and 11-yearolds this year at our local Tuscaloosa
YMCA. Allen and Tripp had a great
time coaching and cannot wait to do it
again next season.
"This was really great service for
Tripp and me to do. We really enjoyed
working with young guys," says Allen
Terrell '99.
Their season was eight weeks long,
and they finished with a 6-2 record.
Tuscaloosa YMCA Youth Director
Chris Hester was so impressed with
the job Tripp and Allen did that he
asked them to coach an all-star team.
This involvement shows great lead
ership and service and also serves as
an example to the younger members
of Theta Chapter.
With their boys basketball team at the YMCA are(far left)Tripp Farrell and

President's Address
I hope everyone is having a great
spring. I want to remind all of our
graduate brothers that the Norris Pig
Diimer is just around the comer. As
always, we are looking forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
This past fall was a rewarding one
for Theta Chapter. I would like to take
this opportunity to thank all of our
active graduates for the support they
continually give to the house.
I am pleased with many steps the
chapter has taken recently. This fall,
we reinstalled a House Judicial Committee to better police ourselves and
to set goals and standards which we
will strive to attain.
Also, this spring we are coordinating a Greek system service project for
the fall. We hope this project will
bring increased appreciation from the
Tuscaloosa community toward the en-

Garrison Wins
City Council Seat!
Lambert Lee Garrison '97 won the
Tuscaloosa District Four City Council
seat on August 26, 1997. This district
encompasses the area where most
commuter students live. Lee has done
an incredible job thus far in his term
as a city councilman. In addition to
the encouragement and support of his
fraternity brothers. University of Ala
bama students rallied behind Garri
son. Lee is the youngest member ever
on the Tuscaloosa City Council.
Garrison has beena great leader for =
Theta Chapter for the past four years.
He served as pledge class president
and treasurer in 1995-96. We are look
ing forward to seeing Lee prosper as a
political and business leader in
Tuscaloosa. Congratulations!
Good-Bye to an
Old Friend
We are sad to say that Mamie
Matthews, our beloved cook for 15
years, retired at the end of the 1997
fall semester. Mamie's service to our
chapter will not be forgotten. Her pres
ence in the kitchen touched all of our
lives. Mamie is replaced by Truella
Samuels. We are confident Mrs.
Samuels will be a fine replacement.
