A Quest For Excellence
This year's FIJI Acadamy, at Ohio Sate University,
was brought to its feet after an arousing speech by our

Mr. Jessiee called for the current undergraduate and

high ideals and standards that our proud fraternity was
founded upon many years ago. Mr. Jessiee referred to all
aspects of Fraternal life during his speech including
Scholarship, Brotherhood, Athletics, Community Service, and Religious Practices. He encouraged all the
brothers who attended the Academy to bring back to their

Brothers Jim Burlant '88 and Stephen Klosky '89 and
Pledge Kevin McGuire '90, who attended Acadamy this
year, have already suggested to the chapter and instituted
many of the new ideas that they acquired at Academy this
year. Some of the positive changes that can already be
seen around the Chapter house are things like the newly
formed Meal Plan, where each of the brothers -Yes, even

We would like to introduce the members of the Alpha

1987 - 88 Cabinet
Brothers,
The Rho Alpha Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta is very
pleased to announce their cabinet for the 1987-88 acaKevin McGuire ('90) is double majoring in BioChemisdemic year. I firmly believe that this is our strongest

cabinet ever! The cabinet members are as follows:
Fairfax, Virginia.
Robert Hanson ('88) in majoring in IEOR and is from
Leigh-on-Sea, England.
Greag Neiman ('89) is majoring in Communications
and is from Richmond, Virginia.
Paul Ditto ('89) is majoring in Architechure and is from

The new initiates wish to thank all the brothers and
graduate brothers who helped them through the tough
times of the pledging period. Especially Dana HessefAtpha Gamma), whos past performances as a brother left
many milestones to strive for. And lets not forget the
infamous Nasty Jones (Mu) whos reputation far preceedes him wherever he goes. A special thanks also goes
out to Colin Winchester and Ken Larson, two brothers to
whom the pledge class could go in times of need and not
get turned away, no matter what the cost or hour. It is
dedication and brotherhood like this that made the Spirit
and Brotherhod of the newly initiated Alpha Rho Pledge
Class as strong as it is today.

I wish to personally extend my best wishes to the
newly elected cabnet and I'm sure you will as well. They
have already vowed to take the "bull by the horns" and _
bring this chapter to its full potential. The excitement
that has been generated within the chapter is unprecedented in recent years and will defanately raise the
chapter tone to one far above our standards.
Best Wishes in all your endeavors,

\r\nPresidents Message
Dear Brothers,
As I look back on the previous year as President of the
Rho Alpha Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta, I can honestly
say it has been an interesting one to say the least. The
experiences that I have had and the tremendous growth
in maturity and leadership that I have developed will stay
with me forever. Proving once again that Phi Gamma
Delta is "Not just for College days alone."
I recently witnessed the Chapter, showing true FIJI
Spirit, rebound from a relatively dismal chapter tone
during Winter Quarter last year, to an incredible one last
Spring. The motivation and spirit that we had before has
once again come over the Chapter like wildfire and is
showing up in everything that we do. We return this Fall
with 23 initiated Brothers, as the AP Pledge class was just
initiated and Mike Maret (Alpha Gamma) is back at Tech
after a four year absence. Also, Fall Rush turned out well

there.
Also, there are movie showings at the house every
Tuesday night, after study hours, where the brothers can
let off some of that "mid-week steam". These are just a
few of the exciting changes that have occurred already
this year and with the election of the new cabnet just afew
short weeks away we should see even more new ideas in
the future.
Pinball Madness)
Graduate Brother Tom Matacia (Xi), to the delight of
the Rho Alpha Brothers recently donated a pinball game
to the house. The Mr. and Mrs. Pac-man pinball machine,
made by Bally, was the highlight of the most recent
happy hour at the house and has generated some friendly
competition between the current brothers, both old and
new. The money raised from the pinball playing will be
used by the finance committee for things like house
renovations and repairs and other worthy causes. The
