I would like to thank Mike Wagoner,
Dennis Hamer and David Laity for their

At the beginning of this year it
looked as though our graduate program
(the little that we had) was collaps
ing. The disaster of the '73 Purple
Garter party exemplified this thought.
However with the response that I have
been getting for the forthcoming Grad
Picnic, our hopes are getting very
high. The response has been unbelieveable, however, it is still not enough.
There are still over 200 of our graduates
who have yet to reply.
I don't think I
can overstress the importance of atten
dance at 239 on May 18. You have nothing
to lose. If you don't come to see the
house, come to see your friends. If you
don't come to see your friends, come to
eat and play baseball.
If for non© other
than the above reasons, the four kegs of
Schlitz Malt Liquor should bring you to
239.
Now that you have decided to come, here
are the details;
May, 1974
Arrival should begin
anywhere from 11 AM to 1:30 PM (of
course, any stags who want to roll in on

between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM. Dinner will
be served between 5 PM and 5:30 PM. There

\r\nFIJI PROFILE
Next time you get the chance, turn over
a copy of New York's February 18 issue.
The guy lookin* at you via the latest
"Dewar's Profile" is a Fiji. His name?
James L. Tuman, Epsilon Lambda graduate
1964.
If you were an active back then, you
knew who he was. The average student came
across his name in the State News many
times. James Tuman was active in campus
affairs. Any glance at the Fiji scrapbook can tell you that Tuman's sophomore
year gave him the distinction of Mr. MSU
QUOTE: "Time permits board vistas of
exploration in life but only brings
meaning to those who know its value."
PROFILE: Dynamic, socially conscious.
Determined to leave a positive mark.
SCOTCH:
Dewar's "White Label"
"Jim, you may have gotten the spot
light for the scotch you drink, but we
all know the real accent's on your
service to the community. Good luck.
Keep positive. I toast my next D&B
to you."

address, sent it to me, courtesy
of "Spirit.")
candidate.
As a junior, he worked in a Lansing
juvenile decency program. Several hours
every week Tuman mixed roles as coach
and counselor for underprivileged school
children. He started forming an indivi
dual philosophy about community service
back then. Quote: "I try to impress on
the boys the necessity of having goals
and attempting to achieve them, rather
than looking for a way out of a difficult
situation."
And, during his senior year, Tuman
gained recognition as general chairman
of Union Board Week.
But there were
countless other AUSG hours he never got
credit for.
James L. Tuman. Here's what the people
