1978 NORRIS PIG DINNER
This year's Pig Dinner was a real success thanks to the
efforts of Chairman Jim Goldsmith. More than forty alumni
brothers were present, including Brother Clarence

their typically unusual entrance by arriving at the House in

Billy Kuchta, '72, got things underway, with Brother Daily
beginning the ceremony. The eight newly initiated brothers
made an impressive showing with Bill Albrecht, '79,
bringing up the rear and fulfilling the duties as pledge
president. Presentation of the Seitz Award was made by
Steve Richards, '79, to Rick Gagliano, '80. Dicky Rosenthai, '78, was the recipient of the J. Mason Hotchkiss

Award for outstanding service to the House by a senior.
This year the library gift was accepted by faculty member
Brother Ted Bayshore, UCLA,'69, who has shown quite a
bit of interest in the House this year. A special presentation
was made in honor of John Seay, '67, in recognition of his
distinction of being the last to succumb to the desire to
outstanding contribution as Purple Legionnaire. Inky's

PROFILE: SENIOR CLASS
Before the dinner on Saturday the Chi Association held
a very important and informative meeting. The new slate of
officers of Bill Kuchta (President), Drew Hamelink
(Treasurer), and John Bobbins (Secretary) passed easily.
Mark Curry had the results of his questionnaire. The
graduates who replied were overwhelmingly in favor of
reducing the Chi Association dues and in instituting a class
agent system to increase the communication and organiza

hood looks forward to a relaxed summer life and an escape
from the pressure of school. This excited anticipation is
countered by sadness and reluctance to leave as the
tion of Chi Association. There were two motions that were
addressed. Roger Anderson moved that a scholarship award
be set up for a deserving undergraduate brother. The award
would be 15% of the Chi Association savings balance, not
to exceed $500. The winner of the award would be decided
by the college financial aid office. This motion was tabled
because there were too many unanswered questions.
Brother Anderson and several others volunteered to further
research the idea for the next meeting. Steve Pierce moved
that Chi Association spend $600 over the next six years to
improve the chapter archives. The motion was passed.
During recent years we have made a substantial effort to
increase and improve our graduate relations. It is often
Brothers realize the seniors will not be back next year. The
number of the seniors in the house this year is unusually
small and yet their departure will have an intense effect on
the House as a whole. The Brothers who are graduating this
year are Dicky Rosenthal and Jimmy Goldsmith.
Throughout their four years in Chi Chapter Jimmy and
Dicky were effective leaders. Jimmy served as Pledge
President, Rush Chairman and Historian. Dicky was Pledge
Treasurer, 5ocial Chairman and Corresponding Secretary.
Both of them were also active participants in all Fiji events.
Dicky was the star of many intramural teams (just ask him,
he'll tell you), and Chairman of Pig Dinner and Home
coming. Jim has served as Chairman of Homecoming twice
and is the Chairman of this year's Pig Dinner Committee.
Both Jimmy and Dicky are spirited Fiji's as Jim attended
Fiji academy and Dicky went to the Ekklessia. Chi Chapter

BROTHER RICHARDS ELECTED
STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT
After a vigorous campaign, Steve Richards '79, was
elected Student Body President of Union Ckillege. On May

runoff opponent. Two days earlier, Steve outpolled the
other four candidates by a comfortable 30% margin to earn

them back frequently and wish them luck in whatever lies
ahead.
