International Headquarters had a"capital"idea,as they
say,in having the 144th Ekklesia in Washington,D.C.,
this past August. For four days and nights, Jeff Waller,
John Petrella, Marc Katz,Larry East, Marc Gilbert, and
Steve Pyburn all attended seminars and instructional
lectures in an effort to bring some creative, productive
ideas back to the chapter.
As our three official delegates, Jeff, John and Larry also
participated on several sub-committees where they dis
cussed and voted on various issues, including the founding
of new colonies and raising the minimum G.P.A. required
for initiation. While these numerous meetings took place,
the three remaining delegates attended numerous half-hour
seminars on such topics as pledge education, rush, and
graduate relations. Ofcourse Ekklesia was not all work and

Events Day was held the Saturday before Home
coming. Gamma Tau performed very well in the events
and went into Homecoming Weekend with a slight lead
in the Homecoming competition. A few tough breaks
cost the Chapter a Homecoming title, but this Chapter
will never give up and next year Gamma Tau should
bring the Homecoming trophy back to the Chapter
House where it belongs.
Homecoming weekend began on a wet Friday after
noon with many graduates and parents in attendance at
the Mini 500 tricycle race. The judging of the Home
coming displays took place despite the rain. Gamma

Charles Manley Brown was bom on November 20,
1902. He entered the Georgia Institute of Technology
and graduated in 1925. During his time at the school, he
played an integral part in the founding of the Gamma
Tau Chapter of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta. On
June 23, 1926, our petition was accepted, and we were
granted our charter as the 68th Chapter of Phi Gamma
Delta. Seeing Brother Brown's name as one of Gamma
Tau's founding members still gives pleasure to many
Gamma Tau Brothers.
Tau caught a little bad luck because the judges did not
get to see the awesome mechanicalization of our display
due to the rain. A lot of hard work was put into the
display by many Brothers, especially Brothers Dan
Spinetto, Tim Shippy, Duane Shippy, and Eric Meihofer.
The next morning began bright and early with the
Ramblin' Reck Parade. The Chapter appreciates Brother
