Ward Hubbs, p. 395, "Enlisted May 6, 1861, in Uniontown, Alabama; assistant regimental commissary with rank of captain; brigade commissary in 1862; D. H. Hill's division commissary with the rank of major in 1863. Brother of Guards John M. Adams and Richard Henry Adams."
