Initiated December 7, 1860 as a junior (this suggests he left school to join the Army and was given a degree while serving). Chapter treasurer March 6, 1863 to June 25, 1863; minute of March 6, "In the absence of the regular [treasurer], Bro. Ruddell was appointed to perform the duties of that officer." Secretary of 1863 convention in Pittsburgh. Presided over closing banquet of 1872 convention.
