Private Co. D, 45th Pennsylvania Infantry, March 29, 1862 to December 9, 1864. Thrice wounded: at Jackson, MS (shot in right foot), Blue Springs, TN, and the Wilderness May 6, 1864, where "he received a rifle-ball through his left elbow joint and another shattered a rib, and thus being incapacitated . . . he was honorably discharged."
