Current Corresponding Secretary Ken Wolff "94 and
Historian Rob Prehse '95 planned an exciting weekend for
all the brothers. We kicked off the weekend with a Friday
evening cocktail party. Saturday's events included a
morning brunch, golf at the nearby Shamrock Golf Club
and a dinner, which was held at the recently remodeled
Delaware Hotel. Dale "Fuzzy" Renner '50 delivered the
keynote address and in it he urged the undergraduate
brothers as well as the 1993 pledge class to "nevergive
up." He explained to all of the brothers that life offers
many challenges. After this extremely movingspeech, the
Golden Owl awards were presented to brothers in
recognition of their 50 years of attendance at Pig Dinners.
Silver Owl awards recognizing the 25-year attendance
records of younger brothers were also awarded.
A Fiji graduate of Yale University and father of Fiji
pledge James Walsh '95 said, "In all myyears at Pig
Dinners, this one Is by far the best."
Graduate brothers were pleased with the weekend's
events as they returned to the Fairbanks Lodge to share
fond memories of their undergraduate experiences at Phi
Gamma Delta. The undergraduate brothers hope to build
on the success ofthis year's Pig Dinner Weekend as plans

As the undergraduate treasurer, it is my pleasure to inform you that we are most
certainly in the black. I mention this facetiously because I'm sure that this was not
your foremost concern. Beyond that superficial financial report, it is my duty to
inform you that the undergraduate treasury has imdergone some changes for the
sake ofefliciency. Our accoimts receivable files and accounts payable files have
both been computerized so that the transition to future treasurers will be more
efficient and easier to manage. I am also fortunate to be able to inform you that all
of the undergraduate house bills have been collected.
Having been historian last year, I found rryself reacfy for another cabinet
position and eager to tackle the position of treasurer. Prom the outset my first goal
was to maintain the treasury on a day-to-day basis, as opposed to weekfy or
biweekly, as was the status quo. I was able to orchestrate many needed house
improvements through the generosity ofTheta Deuteron. AVilkinson Lodge has
benefited fiom cosmetic and functional electrical and lighting work in the Fiji Room
and the living room. The second and third floors have also received new carpeting.
This work was capped off ty a joint effort of the pledge class and the
undergraduate brothers who gave the hallways a "new face." These improvements
have provided a tremendous boost to chapter tone and morale.
I would like to expross my gratitude to graduate Brother Doug Wamock '75,
House Corporation treasurer, for his commitment to the imdergraduate chapter
and his total conviction in trying to aesthetically maintain the chapter. Doug truly
exemplifies the slogan: "Phi Gamma Delta — not for collegedays alone."
Should you have any questions concerning the treasury or other things, please
feel fipee to c^ or write to me at any time.
The Theta. Deuteron Star is published for the members and filends of the Theta

Theta Deuteron Shines ...
The chapter house looks greatand operates smoothly. Much ofthis is due to our newHouse mother Phyllis Spachner. She
has helped me and the chapter immensefy'. I want to thank our house corporation and Ken Temple 85 forfinding us such a
great person. This alsohas to do with manyimprovements, a large part ofwhich were physically done bybrothers. We also
have a terrific new cook, Mrs. Lavender.
We have institutednewprograms to increase our efliciency including; written committee reports, regular Formal Chapter
meetings and twice-a-month PostInitiation Ekluc:ation programs. Abigbrothersystemand quiethours are nowenforced to
improve scholarship, and those brothers who do improve theirCPAs receive financial awards.
1am satisfied that Theta Deuteronhad a terrific spring term and has secured great future prospects. 1welcome any
comments and suggestions fiom our graduate brothers. Also, I would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who would
like to visit the chapter house.

Home Improvements
By Robert A Staub Jr. "93, House Manager
I have beenthe house manager fiom the beginning of the 1992fall semester. Since that time, there havebeen a few changes to
both the maintenance of the house as well as the actual interior of the house.
In oirfer to promote pridein the chapter, the brotherhood has implemented a newby-law requiring all membersto
complete house tasks. Each class rotatesresponsibility on a weekly basis. Thishas been an effective tool in maintaining a clean
and attractive living environment
In the center ofthe living room, a four-foot trackofantique light fixtures have been placed above the fireplace. In the Fiji
Room, a number of recessed light fixtures have been installed along with a brass light above the pool table. In addition, the
chapter purchased a 41-inch television. This is encased by a cabinet that the brothers designed and constructed. These
renovations have made the Fiji Room another comfortable area forthoughtful interactionamong the brothers. Along with the
new lighting, the Fiji Room as well as the second and third floors have new carpeting.
It is the chapter's hope that a summer renovation project of the basement is possible. This project would include replacing
thewood paneling with
