2017 Fall Scholarship Newsletter Alpha Nu (University of New Mexico)
ALPHA NU
ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
Greetings From Alpha Nu Alumni Scholarship Foundation (ANASF)
Last year we wrote about our plan to institute a scholarship program for Alpha Nu undergraduates, which would
award eight - $1,000 scholarships per semester beginning in 2016-17. We also solicited your help with this effort.
This year, we write again to solicit your help and are proud to report that we have “Walked the Talk”. We have
awarded 17- $1,000 scholarships during the 2016-17 school year!
Our purpose remains to have a positive impact on Alpha Nu by encouraging scholarship and
leadership in the Chapter. We believe that is happening as evidenced by the facts:
1. Out of 17 scholarships given, only three have been repeats, helping 14 brothers.
2. We had Spring semester applications from brothers who in the fall semester had qualifying GPA but few
If any activities or had qualifying activities but a low GPA.
3. Alpha Nu is using the availability of a Scholarship as a rush tool which has helped to pledge 30+ men last
fall and this fall, even while being on social probation.
Below, are the outstanding undergraduates who received scholarships, followed by a short biography on each hometown, class and a thumbnail of their achievements:

\r\nOur goal is to accumulate $600,000, from which investment income can be generated that will fund 16-$1,000
scholarships per semester. To date, after funding $17,000 in scholarships, we have $168,000 in the bank plus
$162,000 in commitments over the next two years. Our expenses have been less than 1% and our directive is for
a minimum of 98% of donations and investment income to go to scholarships. We need an additional $270,000
in donations to hit our goal and need your help. We had 28 donors during the last school year (listed below) out
of over 500 Alpha Nu graduates with donations from $50 to $25,000. No amount is too small. If we all give some
each year “we’ve got this!”
Plaques have been created for the 2016-17 school year followed by subsequent years that will hang in the
chapter house listing all donors and recipients (see below) and will be read at each Pig Dinner. As a donor you
will receive an accounting of the Foundation's income and expenses and are invited to award dinners for the
scholarship recipients each semester.
Please help make a difference in the young brothers’ lives, Alpha Nu and ultimately
in our country as these brothers become our leaders. Send in your donation using
the attached form. The amount of your donation will not be published.
Thanks in advance for your support. If you have questions about the ANASF feel
free to contact any of us.
