Letter from Howard College (Alabama) - January 12, 1861

Letter from Mu Chapter at Howard College to Brother Armstrong thanking his chapter for the sympathy for the near death of the Howard College Chapter which had four members at or about that time. The chapter did close in 1861.

Transcription of letter:

"Howard College [Alabama], Jan 12th 1861

Bro. Armstrong -----

We are glad to hear your sympathy in our time of trouble, when our existence as a chapter is rapidly drawing to a close. --- We would be happy to establish another chapter to fill the void thus created, in case of our death. May your chapter never be placed in the condition in which ours is. May dark prospects never sadden the horizon of your future! And may Delta is me, like the proud army of Napoleon 1st, march right onward, achieving conquest in its great field of battle. The kindest greetings of our chapter to yours.

I am yours in Dism [unable to determine word].
