1898 Membership Directory and Chapter Rolls

This 1898 book owes its origins to a resolution adopted by the General Convention of Phi Gamma Delta in 1897 in Nashville, Tennessee. However this book really was the creation (both in terms of energy and cost) of Alfred Vernon (Yale University 1875).

Past membership directories listed chapters and members. This directory did that as well as publishing biographies of prominent members, histories of chapters and colleges, and many pictures.

The publication, 1460 pages in length, contains 211 biographies, 375 portraits and over 425 other illustrations. The publication was the most ambitious membership directory to that point in Phi Gamma Delta and was the envy of the entire Greek community.
