Second, the present membership of
Phi Gamma Delta at the O. W. U. is
absolutely all right.
I have taken
some pains to ascertain the standing
of the chapter by inquiry of citizens,
faculty, other Greeks and barbs, and
by my own personal association with
the members.
The judjgment thus
formed is entirely complimentary to
Theta Deuteron.
The nine new men
initiated this year are fine fellows in
deed,—none better have gone else
where,—and the fortunes of the chap
ter will doubtless be safe in the hands
of the present members for at least
three years to come. In scholarship,
in athletics, in Y. M. C. A. work, in
social life, the chapter furnishes
representatives who "maketh not
ashamed." I am glad to be able to
vouch for them thus freely and with
out reservation.

NEW HOME.
When we read the headline we
are naturally confronted with the
thought of how little has been done
by the Alumni of the grand old Theta
Deuteron along the lines of a perma
nent Chapter Home.
In June,
1898, Theta Deuteron
Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta was
granted a permit by the faculty of
O. W. U. to occupy a frat house, the
first undertaking of the kind in Ohio
AVesleyan.

Now,
Brother
Alumni,
I
believe
you all' have down deep in your hearts
a warm feeling for Theta Deuteron
and Ohio Wesleyan.
When you are
asked, as you will be soon, to subscribe
for a' few shares of stock, please be
jirompt and sure to join hands once
more with Theta Deuteron boys and
push forward the good work.
Let us
see a speedy accomplishment of the
work already begun toward the Theta

to feel proud of the distinction of be
ing the first fraternity to live in a

The new Edwards Gymnasium has
been a great boon to the students of
Ohio Wesleyan. We have a modern,

the completion of our new athletic
field we will have a plant that will
be hard to beat.

PHI BETA KAPPA.
Last October, a chapter of Phi Beta
Kappa was established in the univer
sity.
On February 20, a large number
of the alumni were .initiated into the
"mysteries."
The election of under
graduate members to the society will
not take place until June.
INITIATIONS.
On

we
initiated
into
active membership six new brothers:
E. T. Le Sourd, H. M. Le Sourd, S. R.
Laning. P. P. Searle. J. ,1. Ganger and
C. E. Blume. A banquet was served
in the house after the initiation cere
monies. -A number of our alumni and
also Section Chief Eagleson were
present.
On February 1 we initiated Brothers
D. W. Moore, E. L. Barr and H. I.
Fullerton. A smoker followed the initi
ation.
Besides our own alumni, sev
eral of the brothers from Ohio State
were with us on this occasion.
FEBRUARY 23 CELEBRATION.
On February 21 about 1200 students
and alumni gathered in Edwards
Gymnasium for the annual Washing
ton Birthday Banquet. At this time
and for -the following few days we had
the pleasure of
entertaining at the
bouse a number of sisters, and "other
friends" of the fellows, and a number
of
alumni.
Several
informal
affairs
were held in honor of our guests and
all of them proved to be occasions of
the greatest enjoyment for everybody.
