First Place Award
Climaxing a memorable 1952
homecoming week-end on October
25, Alpha Phi really had something
to celebrate after winning first
place with their homecoming dis
play, "The Big 10 Goes to the
Polls."
Conspicuous by their presence
were the nearly 100 Fijis who stood
up to cheer when the winner was
announced Saturday afternoon at
the game which saw Michigan
chase the Minnesota Gophers back
into their holes with a 21-0 vic
tory.
The display competed with 58
others in the men's division, and
carried through the theme of the
November elections.

BACK ROW: Dave Smith, Jack White; MIDDLE ROW: Casper
O. Grathwohl, John Schaefer, Lewis V. King, Roger A. Anderson,
David L. Fleisher; FRONT ROW: Robert N. Cassel, Alan M.
Christman, Edward B. Crouse.
Done in
a
riot of reds, greens, blues and
assorted mixed colors (mostly left
over from first week interior decor
ation activities) the display caught
the eye of the judges for its orig
inality and the way it developed a
theme.
