1971 May Newsletter Alpha Gamma (Kettering University)
I
FOR OUR GRADUATE BROTHERS
Flint, Mn.chigan
General Motors Institute
May, 1971
DEAR GRADUATE BROTHERS
i.
t
The Brothers here at the house hope that you might notice a little different
format in the newsletter this time.
With as much information as is available
to us, we have tried to make this a true graduate brothers newsletter. Lack
of information about our grads is our biggest drawback, as I'm sure it always
has been,
A couple of solutions come to mind to bridge this communication chasm.
The first will utilize the graduate newsletter and depends upon some feedback
from you, the graduate. We are quite interested in what your opinions are
regarding important issues of today, both within the fraternity system and
without} we want to know where you are located now and what you are presently
doing. I am also sure other things will come to your minds which vxarrant
expression. In short, we are asking you to use your graduate newsletter.
Write us whenever and as often as you like about whatever you like-—the
possibilities are unlimited, Ever^hing received will be printed. Here is
your chance to see true freedom of the press.
The second way to strengthen the channels between the tindergrads here
at the chapter house and you the grads is to "br^g you back to the chapter
house", both in an official and -unofficial capacity. In the offical capacity,
there are several areas to mention. Our Purple Legionnaire and the Board of
Chapter Advisors are typical examples. Our house corporation certainly needs
rejuvenating. All of these positions are extremely important to the' operation
of our chapter. In the -unofficial sense, become involved in our rush by sending
us recommendations for new men, work -i-iith the grad-uate chapter in yo-ur city,
and try to attend the graduate re-union this year—the Norris Pig Dxnner. Abwe
all, don't wait for a formal invitation to stop in. There are occassions which
might bring you back to Flint, and a short visit at the house always helps to
restore involvement.
There are no valid excuses for the lack of graduate re_ations in the past.
There is only a need for an active and beneficial program now. We want to
re—involve you in your fraternity, and -we hope this newsletter might begin
to serve that purpose. Hopefully, you -will be able to say, "± am a FIJIl",
and not, "I was a Fiji in college,"
Fraternally,
PERGEi

\r\nFIJI'S In Action:
ANNUAL EGG HUNT
As is the FIJI custom at G.N9I. the brothers staged their
annual Easter egg hunt in Ballenger Park of Flint,
Even though advanced publicity was limited because Easter
was at the first fart of the section, at least 200 children
had gathered at the starting time on Easter Saturday by the
10:00 A.F, starting time.
The brothers had hidden approximately 750 colored eggs
earlier the same morning and this is what the children were
after.
The E;,ister Bunny part was dutifully played by Brother
Robert Wozniak, and he was
on hand to give out prizes
'Golden Eggs' which were
hidden with the other colored
,
The event w..s again successful in providing
the area Flint children with some Easter fun and
displaying Phi Gamma Delta's community spirit to
the people of Flint,
BIG BROTHERS OF FLINT
Again this year many of the brothers of cur chapter are
involved in the "Big Brothers of Flint" program. This program
continues to be vforthwhile to both the FIJI's involved a.nd the
community of Flint itself.
Cur cha, pter is the lesdirg partici
pant of the G.F.I, campus in this program, which continues to
increase its Invclvement with G.M.I, students.
