On Alumni ^fiiendU. All-PAC Honors
Alumni interest in the chapter
has been stimulated through a
program of inviting and encour
aging alumni to return to Alpha.
Alex Murdoch, Vinnie Franz
and Dick Perrault are promoting
an idea for increased alumni sup
port by inviting borthers back
to attend meetings. Tbis is only
an expression and an indication
of the alumni support needed for
the chapter.

graduate attitudes which, either

to alleviate. This may best be
done by closer contact between
the graduates and the under

A most sincere invitation is
extended to all alumni to return.
There are two main purposes for
this emphasis. First, the cabinet

Dear Brothers:
In campus ratings most frater

years; not so with Alpha of Phi

In my freshman year faculty
members and students alike
agreed that Alpha was number
one on the Washington and Jef
ferson College campus. It is safe
to say that currently this chap
ter is further in front than it has
been for the past four years.
I have enjoyed much warmth

Intramurals
Powerful Fiji teams in bowl
ing and wrestling appear head
ed for trophies as W&J's intra
mural sports schedule rolls into
high gear.
The pinbusters, captained by
Ray Hinerman, already have won
three matches out of three
starts. Led by sophomore Frank
Herz, the purple and white squad
averaged a highly respectable
score of 160. However, the Phi
Gams expect stern competition
from last year's winner. Pi

Alpha's mat team is well man
aged by experiencedJIm "Lefty"

tournament being held the week
of December 5, the grapplers ap

and physical fitness. They have
been working out regularly for
the past several weeks in the
hopes of returning the chain-

long touchdown run.
Pi si.gma came back strong af
ter Alpha's opening touchdown
and scored on a short pass down

middle.
Late
in
the
second
quarter, however, with key in
terceptions by Captain Dave
Schuoker and Spallone the Al
pha-men threatened once again.
A touchdown pass to end Frazier made it 12 to 6 by the end
of the first half.
In the third quarter an inter
ception of a Pi Sigma pass by
Roma set up the third touch
down. A pitchout from Roma to
Spallone who then threw long to
Frazier resulted in a brilliant
diving catch and an 18 to 6 score.
A subsequent fourth quarter
score by Pi Sigma was, in effect,
nullilied by a touchdown scored
by Roma.
Praise should be given to Al
pha's second stringers who were
instrumental in the fi nal touch
down drive. The second string
was composed of Bob "The Bull"

French and Tom Shoop.
Following the game the squads
