FALL 1
LETTER FROM'TIffi PRESIDENT
Sigma Mu chapter is having another great semester this fall with many events yet to come before the end of
the semester. Things got started on a busy note, as the Fijis were faced with everything from rush and
initiation to major clean up of the house and yard during the very first week of school. Since then the Fijis
have been involved in several community service projects, have participated in numerous campus activities
including Homecoming sign contest and Halloween Carnival, have started a new graduate file system and
program within the chapter, have had a Homecoming part^SO's party, and house party, and have finished the
most successful football season in Phi Gamm history at Mississippi State.
The rest of the semester will center around more service projects, participation in Songfest, decoration of the
house for Christmas and a Christmas party, work on rush for spring semester, and an active participation in all
sports.
The chapter has really worked hard during this past year and the spirit of Sigma Mu has been outstanding.
Much work has been done in the area of reorganizing and putting things in their right place. The new
committee system has worked with tremendous success as the chapter has been more involved than ever
before and all of the committee chairmen deserve a big note of thanks.
As the new year approaches, I can see brighter things ahead for this young chapter. Sigma Mu Chapter at
Mississippi State has truely just begun!
Fraternally,

Sigma Mu Homecoming
This year homecoming at Sigma Mu was better
than ever. To begin with the Fiji homecoming sign
won first place. The sign was a 14' X 12' sign with
the slogan, "Bury the Cougars". In front of the sign
was a four foot platform with a giant Bulldog and
the "Cougar's grave" on it. The brothers really
worked hard on the sign and deserved to win. The
homecoming game was also great. Mississippi State
beat Houston! To top off a great day the Fiji

State were again number one in grades in the Greek

another important game against Sigma Alpha Epsiion, which the Fijis won 12-0 on four field goals by

It was these two wins that vaulted Phi

sent them on their way to the playoffs.
In the first playoff game the Fijis beat Phi Kappa
