All of the hard, work aaid preparation by the brothers made
Homecomim, 1973 a complete success for the Ilii Gamms of liSU,
Our^Biggest turnout of graduates, election .of House Corporation
officers, appointment of Board of Che.pter Advisors, a reception
after the gamie, and one of the best dajices Fhi Qararfla. Delta has
ever ha-d were all a part of this big day. luore details and
pictures will be given in this semester's BULLDOG FIJI.
COluvfLhxITY SERVICE GETS STARTED
The campus and community service coiimiittee is currently
hard at work with the hope of another successful ye8.r.
Several
Drothers are working about 22 cr 23 hours a. week supervising at
a local head start center. This fall's pledge class plans to
work at Gillspie Street Recreation Center on hovember 17.
Several
other projects plainned for the semester incli'.de painting a rural
comiTmnity center and painting and making minor repairs on the
Regional Tient8.1 Health Complex.

The Phi Gamms have continued to be well represented in
stude,nt (xvernment.
Recently Ed Lorton, sophomore pledge from
Williamsbur: , Virginia, majoring, in physical education, was elected
day student senator,
Ed's willingness to work will make him a

Recently

A Christmas party is planned for the first or second Friday
in December,
as in past yea.rs, this will include decorating the
tree aiod getting in the Christmas soirit.

Around 18 brothers and their dates enjoyed brotherhood and
a fanta.stic time in chartering a. bus to the Sts.te-Alabama game
in Jackson.
The brothers also reserved a. privatecr«om in
Cy Thompson's Steak House, where the food was delicious. Everyone
expressed, that they had a -good time and hoped to do this for future
gam.es.

SPORTS
The Phi u-amms recently finished thei?c football season
with a 3"b record, which ws.s no-, indication of the fine perforraances of. the team. Table tennis is s.bout to get under v/ay
with Leigh Hummer sjid John /'/allace playing in the IPG division.
Bobby Henry and Drew ivicDowell hen-e advanced to the finals in
the IPG tennis tournament by beating AlOi P?,rriihouSe,,-and SAE. .
Our three contestants in the- Punt-Pass-Kick competition placed
in the top six.
Other sports'upccming are-the turkey trot,
v/hich is the mile run, the freethrow competiticn, and basketball.
The basketball team is looking; fir a .go*d year with the aid of
several of our nev/ pledges; as bf naw. Phi Gamra is in 5tli place
i.n the IPG standings for 8.11 sports.

All of the brothers are enjoying a new cauch purchased
for the den. Funds for this new couch were provided by the
mother's Glub v/hich was. orgaiiized l8.st spring. Graduate brother
Tommy Boyd v/as instrumental in purchasing tiie couch along with
several of the s.ctive brothers.

The graduate relations coTmnittee has been compiling and
revising a new' graduate roll this semester. Please notify them

The Fiji Newsletter is sent out to all graduates of Sigma
mu chapter. It is a supplement to our regular publication, the
