however, because we have revised the system and have
come up with a program which provides for an extensive
rush plus a successful pledgeship. Things are also
looking up in that we have a pledge class of thirteen for
initiation next quarter, an active membership of fitythree, and we are graduating only seven men within the
next year. We have also implemented a new committee
structure involving every brother and pledge in the
chapter, and, although relatively untested, 1 have high

Fijis are again on top in Tech's student politics.
Jim Dullum, who was 1972-73 chapter president, has
been elected president of the Tech Interfraternity
Council, the governing and service body for Tech's Greek
chapters. Jim is the second Fiji in three years to head the

With these things in mind, 1 feel that 1 can say, without
being immodest, that the past year has been a good one. 1
would like to commend all the officers for a job well done.
1 hope to see you all at our Pig Dinner on May 19th.

Jim Dullum

a spirit of having fun and getting as many Greeks in

What were your costs?
Fiji's costs are going up every year due to inflation,
and we try to keep up by having regular increases in our
dues and fees. For 1972-73, a Fiji pledge pays a pledge fee
of $25, pledge dues of $10 per month, a social fee of $5 per
month, and an initiation fee of $90. If the pledge eats at

per month, plus IFC dues of $2 er quarter. Room rent is
$110 per quarter, and board is $l40 per quarter. There is a
$5 per quarter parlor fee for those living out of the house.
Two special assess lents are announced in advance.
$20 for the Fiji Island party, and $20-$30 for fall rush.
If you remember the dues and fees from your days on
campus, we'd like you to send the information to us for
possible use in a "nostalgia" article in the next issue.
\r\nFreshman Jack McMillan leads the pledge football
team to first place in the pledge league.
Pledges win football championship
In the fall pledge football standings, Phi Gamma Delta
went 3-0 during the regular season, defeating Sigma Chi,
Tau Kappa Epsilon, and Alpha Epsilon Pi in their league.
With Jack McMillan as quarterback, the team defeated
the Kappa Sigs 20-6 in the playoffs and the ATO's in the
championship game for a perfect 5-0 season. In the final
game, Jeff Avers scored the only touchdown, and Craig
Rhodes blocked a last-minute field goal attempt to lead
the team in the 8-6 win.
It appears that the brothers will be bringing in some
good athletic talent for the future.
Dave Willis's efforts at split end are not enough to turn
the tide as the Sig Eps Defeat the Fijis 8-0.
Fijis fare favorably
Scholastic results of the 28 fraternities and two
sororities at Tech, for fall 1972, showed the Fijis dropping
from sixth place last spring to eighth. Three brothers
made perfect 4.0's to put the brothers' average at 2.65,
while the pledges' average stood at 2.5.
The chapter total for this quarter stood at 60 men, with
roughly 40 active brothers and 20 pledges, as compared
to the overall campus average of 56 members. Our
pledge total after fall rush stood at 22, while the overall
fraternity average at Tech was 19.
Phi Gamma Delta was well represented on the hill this
past year with Bruce Milligan and Bill Brooksbank
serving as president and vice-president of the student
body. Greg Williams, who is student body president for
next year, was both treasurer of the Student Center and
president of the junior clas-s. Tech's literary magazine,
the Erato, was edited by Brother Max Heine, while Scott
Kinney, a new initiate, served as the editor of the
Georgia Tech Blueprint.
