'7eff the Chef" is our illustrious
chef's name and cooking up a
storm is his game! Ever since his
arrival, the brothers have been
more than satisfied.
Jeff came to us from Beta Theta Pi,
so we knew he had some experi
ence cooking for a fraternity, but
we were not sure whether he
could handle FIJI. "Jeff the Chef"
turns out to be one of our greatest
assets. He prepares extravagant
meals. Who n^s a catering serv
ice for our get togethers with so
rorities when we have Jeff prepar
ing the most delectable hors
d'oeuvres and entrees.
"Jeff the Chef's" meals are
extraordinary and I extend an in
vitation to any graduate brother to
visit us for diimer any night of the
week to witness this culinary de
light. Now,with the addition of a
new kitchen committee, headed by
brother Ezra Wolfe, the kitchen
and meal planning can be even
more tightly organized to meet the
brother's interests and "Jeff the
Chef's" meal planning.

Intrafratemity
Council Report
As the spring semester at Syracuse University began rolling, the Intrafratemity
Council(IFC)saw many changes. For one, brother Eric Stmck's term on the
executive board of the IFC came to an end. Brother Struck acted as the philan
thropy chairman and achieved notable recognition for his accomplishments
from fellow greeks,as well as,from the administration at Syracuse University.
One of his many accomplishments included the organization of a campus-wide
fundraiser selling raffle tickets. The $4000 raised went for support of a local
children's.
Realizing the importance of having a FIJI on the executive board of the IFC,1
was successful in being elected as the IFC Rush chairman by the general assem
bly for the spring and fall 1989 term. As half of the term is coming to a close,1

This past year at Sigma Nu has been
one of increased community and
campus service. In our continuing
quest for excellence, we have been in
stilled with a greater sense of campus
involvement and awareness. One of
our greatest projects of the year has
been working with Kappa Alpha
Theta in raising over $3,000 for MDA.
Brothers have also been on two trips
to local Rescue Missions to serve food
to the homeless. Last semester FIJI
participated in the New York state

Our efforts were guided by brother

After a positive retreat in the fall,
during which our goals were outlined
for the year, participation did not

which will certainly aid our rush.

President's
Report
This year the Sigma Nu chapter has
added the office of vice president to
the cabinet. The two secretarial posi
tions have been combined into one.
Because the change was voted down
at the past Ekklesia, it has been a dif
ficult task to outline the specific re
sponsibilities of the office. However,

with the help of the cabinet, we have
successfully met the challenge as it
has proved to be a positive transition.
In addition to being the "left-hand"
man to the president, the main focus
of the vice president has been geared
towards brotherhood development.
As proposed under the Acts of the
Ekklesia, the vice president should
pay specific attention to rush, pledge
education and scholarship. Thus, the
vice president would oversee the en
tire development of the chapter's
members from rush through pledg
ing. The ultimate result will foster
better membership education.
In addition, the chapter has adopted
an extensive committee system which
involves every brother as a member
of a committee, thereby striving at to
tal brotherhood involvement for the
better of the fraternity. It is the re
sponsibility of the vice president to
develop and sujjervise the committee
system. Each committee chairman
now has a list of brothers on his
committee whom he can turn to for
ideas and assistance. Involvement

Scholarship
Report
Scholarship is on the climb at
the Sigma Nu chapter. We are
currently ranged at 23 out of
27 fraternities here at Syracuse
University. I have been work
ing with national on ways to
improve our scholarship. By
spring of 1990, we expect to
have our grade point average
above the all men's average.
This semester the whole chap
ter has been very concerned
about scholarship. The broth
ers are adhering to the quiet
hours which 1 have set. These
quiet hours are devoted to
studying in order to improve
our GPAs. Our fifteen pledges
have a cumulative average of
2.8 which is above the all
men's average and will bring
high scholarship to Sigma Nu.
With positive input from
alumni and national, our mo
rale will continue to grow.
Our concern for scholarship
will increase, as well as devo

excellence.
