FIJI ISLAND
For the second year in a row, the brothers have voted to have a FIJI
Island Winter Weekend at Lake Placid. The original plans for FIJI
Island in Orlando, Florida fell through due to financial situations.
The date for FIJI Island is not definite yet, but we are hoping for
plenty of snow in February! More information will follow soon, bros,
so keep in mind FIJI Island 1974!
SIGMA NUS 6c VIEWS**************************************************
The annual Norris Pig Dinner is scheduled for Saturday,^ April 6, 1974.
An invitation has been extended to Archon President David C. Bland as
our guest speaker. Circle this date as one to remember
A new
cabinet was selected. The cabinet is Tom Hadala '75, president. Rick
Minassian '76 Treasurer, Denis Ferentinos '76 social chairman, Charlie
Ziegler '75 recording sec., Dan Steenburgh '75 recording sec., and
Marc Eisen '76 historian
FIJI currently ranks third in fraternity
intramurals. Best showing was fraternity runner-up in table tennis.
Football team finished 3-1, and the bowling team is currently undefeat
ed....A tip of the hat to Ray Morabito and Scott "Lassie" Lucking for
their fine showings this fall in SU Cross Country
Thanks to all
alums who made Homecoming '73 a successful weekend. Gabes and Deter
made a surprise visit from Florida to liven things up a bit, and Zack
and "the Queen" were there in rare form...Best of luck to Tony Gabriel
this year. Tony is a star receiver for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of
the Canadian Football League. He holds the all-time SU pass receiving
record, and was also awarded the Outstanding Alumni Award by the Sigma
Nu brothers at the Norris Pig Dinner last year
Congratulations
to Les Dye '42 in being named the new SU Athletic Director. Brother
Les promises us a winning football team for 1974
FIJI recently
received $1,000 from the will of August Abendroth '16. The money
will be used to purchase new furniture for the TV room
Despite
the fine effort by rush chairman Bob Whiteford, the house only initiated
five pledges for Fall 1973. The new men are Steven Jennison, Syracuse
N.Y., Chuck Ellison, Syracuse N.Y., Jeffrey Knouse, Syracuse N.Y.,
James Tate, Delmar N.Y., and Larry Wouj"^cowski, Buffalo N.Y.
\r\nUnder the guidance of pledge trainer Dave Compton, the pledges have
organized themselves into a very cohesive unit as shown through many
house and community projects
Remember alums. Phi Gamma Delta is not for college days alone. This
is a very important time for FIJI, We are a strong fraternity, but we
need your support. If you can, please send a donation. Every little
bit helps. If you have any information for the Orange Fiji, fill
this out and send it today.
