Our intramural basketball team is wrapping up a very im.pressive regular season and is looking forward to the play-offs. Our
Softball team is eagerly awaiting the start of what ever;vcne be
lieves will bo our best season, ever.
There was jubilation in the house this past week as we learned
that our goal of being number one in grades among all general
fraternities was finally reached as the fall 1972 grade report
showed Phi Gamma Delta above our long time rival. Farmhouse
Fraternity. Everyone is now working with renewed vigor for this
spring, semester so that we can remain on top.
V/e hope that all of you will visit us during the semester
and enjoy these good times with us. You know that you are alv^ays
welcome at the FIJI house.

BROTHERS ATTEND SEMINAR
On the weekend of February 17, several brothers in the chapter
are planning to attend a "Seminar of the 70's" in Athens, Georgia.
This seminar is a minature Fiji Academy that is attended by local
sections of the fraternity in a certain area.
Brothers attending the seminar will be the chapter^officers
and new initiates Jimmy Snced and Bob Stimson. The seminar should
be a very interesting and rewarding event for the chapter.
\r\nHOUSE HEWS
The highlight of house news this semester was the addition of
a new roof for both houses. Work began a week before school and
ended after 3 v/eeks of construction. Undoubtedly, the house is
more attractive nov/, but more importantly it no longer leaks.
Again this semester, the brothers have pitched in to save the
chapter from cleaning expenses by individually cleaning different
parts of the house and yard. Following a schedule drawn up by tl^c
house committee, the brothers have shown a truly purple spirit and
developed into competent janitors.
FIJI^ BASKETBALL
Once again our Phi Gamm roundballers are on their way to^ a
winning season and it looks as though we will be in the playoffs
in our conference.
The strong and talented Sigma Alpha Epsilon team was the first
opponent this season and SAE ytpin'it 5^-30. Since then P'lJI won
over Lambda Chi Alpha 52-39, Triangle ^1-22 and won a forfeit game'
over Theta -Tau.

With a 3-i record, the FTJI'-s met SAE again but again fell
victim 52-3^.
Tv;o gam.es remain on the regular schedule before playoff
activities get underway in late February,
NEW COiVMITTEES
Two newly-formed committees are under way this semester,-
The newly formed Cups Committee will be gathering information
pertaining to the different cups and awards of the fraternity.
Last year the chapter brought hom.e four awards, and this year we
plan to place first in every event.
The Scholarship Committee has as a major project the develop
ment of a test and note file.
We will also be finding new ways to
encourage improvement in scholarship among the brothers. 'We hope
to do as well this semester as we did last semester putting us in
good shape for the Jordan Bov/1 and the IFC
Scholsxship
trophy.
