Tech campus during the cold, damp, pre-dawn hours of Nov. 27 would have been surprised to see that they were not the only ones up at 6:00 AT-l. Normally, very few of us would have even considered being awake in At lanta that early, but the morning of the Tech-Ga. game was the occasion for a joint relay with the Tech FIJI chapter, the "FIJI-Hugh Hendrix Mem orial Run to Athens." The brainchild of P.R. chairman Tommy Draffin, the joint relay was performed to raise money for the Uni versity IFC's annual Leukemia Drive. And with the help of the Tech FIJIs, Kappa Deuteron was able to contribute over $1500 to the cause. The money came largely from the Athens and At lanta business communities and from U.Ga. groups. Football, volleyball, singles tennis, ping-pong, and swim One win was a default by the KA's but the most thrilling win came over the ming were the sports on tap and the AEPi's in a marathon match that we season was rough going from the , won 2 games to 1. Fred Bentley, Jim Boyles, Ed start. Applefield, and Steve Anderson competed in tennis with Steve go ing to the quarterfinals before losing. And the Ping-Pong team of The football team, coached by "The Crow" John Growers ended wi^h a 2-3-1 record. The satisfying wins came over the Phi Belts (27-0) and the SAE's (14-0), but a heart-break ing loss came against the Sigma Chi team (13-9). The tie of the season came against the KA's, a 6-6 affair. Charlie Brickley, Bob Schoonover, David Watson, and Billy Williams added 70 pts. to our total, even though they lost to the Sigma Chi's WANTED: GRAD. Half of the group started at the Tech stadium and ran to Loganville, Ga. while the other half started at Loganville at 6:00 AM and ran to Athens. Then everyone regrouped at the U.Ga. chapter house and ran the last few blocks to the stadium. A quick cheer and pictures,then it was back to our apartments for a shower and some "liquid gold" to keep us awake during the game. One highlight of the whole HELP!! That's the only way to put it. We're really short on graduate news this time because we haven't heard from too mapy of you lately. We sure would appre.ciate it....As predicted a while back Clay and Cindy Stoddard now have a new addition to the family. Adam event came later when it was Hughes Stoddard joined the world in learned that the game ball we September and weighed in at 10 lbs. carried was the one Allan Lea- Congratulations!!...King Purnell gave up bachelorhood recently when he tied vitt booted over to give Ga. its 13-10 victory. The ball was giv en to the Russell Hall Council, which turned in the largest sin gle contribution, $173.
