FIJI'S Really Know
How to Party! "
The above statement, written on our chalk board
by someone with the initials RRR, aptly summed up
FIJI Weekend and our famous FIJI Island party.
Good weather, a good band, and Chi Mu's special
concoctions left literally hundreds of MU students
with a good impression of the house — and a hang
over the next morning. The festivities began Friday
night when our Little Sisters treated us to a huge
luau in the torch-lit front yard. They continued on
Saturday, when brothers, dates, and rushees joined
in a pre-party on the banks of the Missouri River
near Easley cave.
The fun really began on Saturday night when the
FIJI stockade opened up to the entire campus.
Soon, the FIJI Island party was in full swing as
Greeks, dorm residents and rushees helped make
the night a memorable one. The FIJI Merryage ser
vice was doing a booming business, as was the
pond built on the front steps, which quickly became
a swimming pool for some. As far as we could tell,
everyone who came had a great time, helping to
give us a good image on campus.
(A)(B) We just thought you'd like to see what parts
of the stockade looked like.

On April 23, Chi Mu held its annual Norris Pig
Dinner at the Holiday Inn East in Columbia. After
an open bar at the house and dinner at the Holiday
Inn, various awards and honors were announced.
Tom Flint was recognized as Section XXVI's
nominee for the Cecil J. Wilkinson Award, given to
the most outstanding senior in Phi Gamma Delta.

The graduating seniors were then made members
of the Alumni Association by Robert Gardner ('53),
a member of the Board of Trustees. Vernon M.
Jones ('51), treasurer of the Missouri Scholarship
Foundation of Phi Gamma Delta, proudly gave out
23 scholarship checks, a large increase over last
year. Pete Cargill, Chapter President, honored
Gordon Doak ('69) for his service to Chi Mu as
Purple Legionnaire and introduced Rick Halterman
('70) as the new Purple Legionnaire. Pete then
introduced Circuit Court Judge Frank D. Connett, Jr.
('49) of St. Joseph, the featured speaker
of the evening.
After Judge Connett spoke on a variety of sub
jects dealing with his experiences as a judge, the
new initiates departed the room, reentering it with
the pig and singing "Bringing in the Pig." They
then introduced themselves to the west end of the
eastward-facing pig, and also to the audience.
Behind them came the rest of the active chapter,
followed by their graduate brothers. The oldest
brother in attendance was Chuck Link ('37) of
Blue Springs, Missouri. Afterwards, everyone
gathered back at the house for more reminiscing
about Chi Mu's past and discussion of its future.

We're Getting the OT
1...2—and Liking It
We are tickled pink to announce that in the
coming school year, two of Phi Gamma Delta's
top officials will be the guests of Chi Mu chapter.
On September 17, we will be having a Chapter
Retreat, at which we will discuss our goals for
the coming year and how to achieve them.
Marvin J. Carver III (North Carolina '75), Assistant
to the Executive Secretary, will be our special
guest at the retreat.
HOMECOMING with
PI BETA PHI
On April 22,1978, Executive Secretary William S.
Zerman (Michigan '49) will be the guest speaker
at our Norris Pig Dinner. Please keep this date
clear, as you won't want to miss this im
portant event.
This article is only a small one, but dynamite
comes in small packages too. Homecoming is
October 22, and since we're playing K-State, the
theme will be "A Shoot-Out at Faurot Field,
As the Tigers Win the Wild West." We're glad
to be working with the best sorority on campus
to supply some of that ammunition!

Greek Fling-Sing, we have improved our campus
recognition considerably. So, I hope you can see
that we are really trying to improve the house.
However, we can't do it alone. Any top notch

Hopefully, we can join hands and by working

make our fraternity the best on campus.
