~
In an effort to obtain better participation
from the recent alumni and the undergraduates that
-are living out, we have decided to initiate a news
letter to tell about the coming events at the Fiji
house. Hopefully this will let the outsiders know
ic-k ' house, both in spirit and in actual involvement.
about the events and will draw them closer to the
In way of news from the first semester, we are
now second in IM's and are seeking our first league
championship. All the sports so far this semester
are doing well and are well on their way to league
championships. Socially, we have an active semester
ahead with TG*s, parties, and Alumni Dinners.
We have had Rush already this semester, and at
the present time have 12 pledges# Rush was quite
different than in the pas1i with each brother pre
senting his own image in an unusually relaxed way.
The result was spontaneous action— guitar playing,
cards, jokes— that impressed the brothers almost as
much as the Rushees.
COMING EVENTS
February 7 —
Alumni Dinner and Basketball Game—
There will be an alumni dinner, cocktail hour,
and basketball game beginning at 12:00. The event
is scheduled to improve alumni support for the under
graduate chapter, especially in light of the failure
of the Norris Pig Dinner last semester. After lunch,
there is a basketball game with Northwestern, fol
lowed by a cocktail hour at the house. Dinner will
be served, followed by more cocktails and reminIsing about the old days at Phi Gamma Delta. It
should be a fun-filled afternoon so we are look
ing for all the brothers to attend.

Social Events—
Ihose of you that were lucky enough to be at
the house at the gambling party know how well the
brothers are able to give parties. One of the rea
sons for the success of that party was the large num
ber of brothers living out that took the ~ time to
come.
The rest of February looks to be an active
month on the social side. A new look in TG's has
been presented by allowing the sorority to come
to the house before hand for an exchange dinner.
It should be fim to be able to eat with the girls
before they come over on Friday.

Fiji Athletics—
Athletics have to be divided into those that
have already been started and those that are still
to begin. We are doing well in both basketball leagues
with the A team having a good ghance at winning
the title. They have beaten all three of their roidid
robin opponents soundly( by 20 poinjrs). Water polo
is in fine shape, with their only match a lop=
sided 17-1 victory.

P.S.
In light of recent house acitnity, there
has been considerable interest shown in a new
game, box hockey. Seldom is there a time that the
current rink is not in use, and many of the incompetent
brothers living out find the game amusing until
they come up against the champs of the house. There
has been talk of a Stanley Cup series, but Sfeanley
needs all the cups that he can get to kaep the
puck out of his net. Myron would be good if it werent
for the malignent growth that has taken over his head.
Max cant even see the ice, but is the luckiest around,
A real contest would ensue, but the competition is
so fierce that the teams would never stand up. An open
challenge to any fo3)lish outsider that thinks he
is man enough
take on any of the above any time.
