UndoubtedIy, the high point of the entire year came on Race Day‑
ApriI 26th, When the Fijis captured the
25th LittIe
500
victory. The
riders from Beechwood outdistanced the favored DeIta Chi team by an
entire lap and piaced weii ahead of 3rd piace Dodds House and 4th
Piace Phi Kap両 ̄ ̄P§仁 ̄
 ̄ ̄
The victory came as weIi justified reward for the endIess hours of
PraCtice that were devoted by riders Jay AIIardt, Eric King, Pete King,
Charlie Turk, and Keith Mi=er (aItemate〉. Others deserving much credit
for the victory inciude the coaches BiIi Shonk and Pat Smith, and the
Chief mechanic, Pat Ho=oway,
The first pIace finish surged the Fijis into the Iead in aiI‑time race
Standings, and provided Zeta with its fourth LittIe 500 winner
s trophy,
A= of the brothers here at Zeta are extremeIy proud of the per‑
formances of this year
s bike team, and we wish to thank them for an
exce=ent ending to what we feit has been a most successfui year!

78 teams which attempted to quaIify for the 54 positions thus proving to ail Begatta
fans that Phi Gamma Delta intended to remain a strong competitor for the foIIowing

A cIoudy and rainy race day on Lake Monroe did not dampen the spirits of the

Senior; both three and four year veterans respectiveIy, Mark Needham, Freshman;

With a comeback that wouid have even made Generai MacArthur envious, the troops of Phi
Gamma Delta ra冊ed to win this year,s A= lntramural Sports Championship. 1n a year marked by
determination, the brothers of Beechwood stormed back in the spring sports and overhauIed their
rivaI athietic fraternity, Sigma Nu" Behind by aImost one hundred points with only four sports re‑
maining, the big surge enabIed the Fijis to triumph by a sIim four points; 2881 to 2877 for the

The big points for Phi Gamma DeIta came in softbaii and somewhat surprisingly, SOCCer. In sofト
ba= the Beechwood beiters captured the C‑Ieague race and finished second in the A‑Ieague. These
