\r\nPRESIDENT'S Report:
The past year has seen many changes and improvements in our
Chapter. We initiated fourteen new members, We have reorganized the Treasury. There have been many House improvements
including increasing the capacity of the House to nine by the
addition of a new room and we have rented all the available
spaces for the first time in several years. We placed first
in scholarship among the fraternities Spring Quarter. In
recognition of our efforts, National has awarded us fourth
in the Condon Cup (Most Improved Chapter). This is an honor
we are all proud of and one we would like to maintain.
The forthcoming year is very important to the Chapter. We
must initiate another "large pledge class in order to increase
our Chapter size and to continue to meet all our debts. It
would also help to improve our campus relations. Presently,
twenty-four undergraduates have returned to school of which
eight are expected to graduate at the end of the school year.
Fall Rush produced only one pledge but was still a successful Rush because of a large number of serious freshmeni candidates. The Brothers are working hard and will work even
harder as Winter Rush approaches, but we would like to ask
for your graduate support at Rush again this year, teany of
last years initiates state that the presence of graduates
at the Rush parties was an important factor in their choice
of Phi Gam. With this in mind, we have organized Winter
Rush so that it will be possible for the graduates to attend.
With your support, this year will be even better than last.

HOUSE IMPROVEMENTS
This Summer several major House improvement projects occurred. Early in the summer, Rick Gass increased the occupancy
of the house by adding a new single room upstairs in the old
"Waffle" area. Nine Brothers are now living in the House.
All of the extra rent will of course be used to pay back
house payments. Andy Stowasser deserves our very special
thanks and appreciation for coming down several weekends to
paint the House. Despite limited graduate support, Andy
and the Brothers living in Blacksburg painted much of the
outside of the House. The porch will be the last major painting project before cold weather sets in. Four of the Brothers .rooms were also painted a few days before classes began. The room in the basement was substantially improved
with the addition of a plasterboard ceiling and extensive
electrical work. Much of the House needs rewiring simply
because of its age, but this will require a professional
electrician. More about this at the BCA meeting Pig Dinner.

\r\nFINANCE:
Finances have been good for the Fall Quarter here at fech.
Bill East has been sending money fairly regularly. The
"Deficit King", Danny Kallick, made a $300.00 contribution
towards the elimination of that illustrious title. At the
time of this report (Oct. 31,1980), only seven undergraduates
owe more than $30.00 and furthermore, only three owe more
than $100.00. That is far from perfect, but it is better
than normal.

WHERE ARE YOU???
We have and are presently maintaining a computerized address
list of all graduates. However, there are many graduates
for whom we still have no current addresses. If anyone can
help us locate these graduates, or if "you yourself are moving, please let us know.

\r\nTHE NORRIS PIG DINNER
As we all know, Pig Dinner was held at Tom Terrifies on May 9- Attendence was about 90 graduate and undergraduate Brothers. We heartily
thank Jim Jessie for his inspirational speech.
It is always a pleasure to be able to have a
National speaker for our annual event.
For those of you who missed the spectacle, Harold "Nasty"
Jones and Michael O'Brien were named Graduate and Undergraduate Brothers Of The Year, respectively. Following the
presentation, the Brothers and their dates began someserious partying, topped by Nasty's "Marine Corp" impersonation
(with the gracious use of Steve Jones' gear).
We're looking forward to some more good times and some
more graduates to thouroughly enjoy the next Annual Frank
Nbrris Dinner. The date has been established and is:
• MAY 9 •
so make plans now to attend. There will be a meeting of the
BCA in Squires Student Center at 10:00am that day. Exact
place has not been set yet, but the Information Desk will be
aware of the room come Spring.
Pig Dinner cost this year is tentatively $15«00 per person.
Formal Invitations will be going out this Winter. We hope to
see all of you this Spring.

EXPERIENCES 132nd EKKLESIA
On August 12-16, I had the honor of attending the 132nd
Ekklesia held at Opryland in Nashville,Term. Some of the
more important things that were decided at the Ekklesia
ares Chapter chains are now considered ritual material
and are prohibited from public display as was prior practice with some of the western Chapters, people may now
be pledged and initiated posthumously if they meet the
proper requirements. On the lighter side of the Ekklesia,
social stunts included the swim in the hotel pool at 4 am
Wednesday? the swim in the hotel fountain at 4 am Friday;
and the wonderful hangover everyone had Saturday morning.
My roommates were from the University of California at
Riverside. I discovered that Fiji's from the West can drink
aa well as Fiji's from the East. However, I found that
I could retain my intelligence longer.(?) All in all, it
was a great Ekklesia and I plan on attending the next one
in Montreal.

\r\nSPORTS:
Sports for the Fall Quarter have not been bad. Turnout has
improved and we seem to be getting more competitive all the
time. Football this year has been changed to strictly Noncontact. The game is basically a Razzle-Dazzle flickerball.
And to prove that Phi. Gam has style, wit and coordination,
the first game produced one broken nose and a dislocated hip.
However dismal the record looks (0-^-), Phi Gam managed to
score at least once in every game.
Volleyball has glamour in it this year. Volleyball been
bery, bery good to us. Right at this moment we are looking
at play-off spots in Co-Rec and Power. Jungleball has been
left to those who wish for fun and not fame.
Individual sports this Quarter include a daring try by
Scott Weber in Field-goal Kicking, a noble attempt at Jarts
by Tim Morris and a stab by Danny Kallick at Basketball
Free-throws. Definitely not forgotten here are our two
Tennis Pros. John Adamo is in the finals of the Fraternity
Men's and, teamed with Little Sister Sally Harris, made
it to the Semis of Co-Rec. Sally Harris made it to the finals of the Women's Division where she made a gallant effort,
coming up just short of a win.
Winter Sports will include: Basketball, and Innertube Water Polo. We are fired up to make a name for Phi Gam!
COMMUNITY
SERVICE:
Recently Rho Alpha formed
a Community Services Committee. Any Brothers and
graduates willing to make
a tax-deductible contribution to Charity are heartily encouraged to do so
through the Committee. Any
suggestions as to fundraising projects and opportunities can be sent to me,
Doug Frushour, at the House.
Let's put some Phi Gam
Spirit into it! J
Our main projects so far
for the future include the
Rush/Dance at Squire's
and UMOC for next year.
We plan to start saving •
now so that we may be able
to recapture the plaque
once more. I myself plan
to be the "UGLIEST MAN
THEY EVER WAS!!!!" Chip
in and be part of the
Purple Power.
CONGRATULATIONS!! !
Slightly late, but better than
never, we here at Rho Alpha
welcome to the world the baby
daughter of Doug and Patsy Painter.

\r\nPLEDGES' CORNER:
Rho Alpha TAKES 4th IN CONDON CUP
My name is Bphry Chiam Kaplan.
I am a sophomore majoring in
Engineering. My pledge period here at Phi Gam began
almost one month ago. Pledging has been wild and the
Brothers are great. Their
advice has been truly helpful. I look forward to the
time when I may become a
Brother of Phi Gamma Delta.
This past year proved very
fruitful for FIJI. The 132nd
Ekklesia brought forth a
fourth place in the Herbert
T. Condon, Sr. Cup. This award
is given to the Chapter with
the greatest all-around improvement. Rho Alpha is" proud
to be "so recognized and will
continue to march onward and
upward.
