PIG DINNER '80
Once again it is time to "all hail the pig", which
is the start of the tradition that the fraternity celebrates
throughout the U.S. and ports of Canada. The efforts
of Frank Norris to moke it on elaborate ceremony
bock in 1893 was on inspiration for undergrods and
graduate brothers to meet every year for reminising
and feasting.
This year the Pig Dinner will be held on the first
weekend in May. Graduate brothers are welcome to
bring their wives along with them for all the festivities.
Invitations will be sent out in March, with details for

this years Pig Dinner. This should again, be a most
exciting event for all Nebraska Fiji's.

\r\nPRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Graduate Brothers,
As the decade of the 70's passes, we at Lambda
Nu are looking forward to the 80's. The challenges of
the 80's must be hit head-on, to carry on the success
and tradition of Lambda Nu. The problems such as
low chapter house occupancy which caused financial
instability have been met, and the chapter house is
now full. This is not the only problem which will face
Lambda Nu in the 80's.
With the decline of enroll
ment which is projected to occur in the next ten years,
it is important that a strong unified active chapter and
active graduate chapter cooperate and work together
to keep Lambda Nu strong.
A Major project which must be completed in or
der to keep the chapter house looking respectable, is
the total renovation of the living room. The lost time
the chapter had the living room redecorated was al
most twenty years ago. With the combined effort of
the active chapter and the mothers club a step has
been made in the right direction. We ore also going
to need the help of graduates. The estimated cost of
redecorating is $15,000. The money will be used ex
clusively for the purchase of new carpet, furniture and
curtains, which are now in desperate need of replace
ment. The help of graduates is essential for the suc
cess of this project.
Philanthropy projects are once again of great im
portance. This semester will include the second an
nual FIJI run for Cystic Fibrosis. Last years run was a
success and this year we are expecting a much larger
turnout. All graduate brothers in the Lincoln area are
invited to run the five mile course.
This semester Lambda Nu will be sponsering a
pole sit which will lost 600 hours. We ore hoping to
raise $5,000 for the Nebraska Resources Foundation.
First Row—John Sekutora, Kevin Withee, Mike Dingwell, Mike Demoree.
Second Row—Jace Nore, Randy Sanford, Ken Hoist,
John Antle.
INTRAMURALS
The intramural program is the best it has been in
many years. Our goal at the beginning of the year
was to finish in the top three; with a good semester
we should be there.
The year started with the "B" Softball team win
ning the league championship and finishing third in
all university. The same players should do well in the
"A" league next year.
The golf team won All-University, led by Morgan
Stratton, who shot a 75 at Pioneer Park.
He led all
golfers in the tournament. The other members were
Phil Oschner, Tom Johnson, Chris Johnson, Scott
Walker, and Jeff Gaule.
With added emphasis on philontrophys the Baker Cup
will hopefully adorn the Lambda Nu trophy case.
Much thanks goes to last years cabinet which in

looks like we will need approximately thirty-five to

good percentage of these men from western Ne

Again, brothers, I ask for your help. If a high

PLEDGE CLASS PROJECT
This years Pledge Class money raising project was
the sale of Sylvania lightbulbs. LJnder the leadership
of Craig Stirtz each was issued 90 packs of lightbulbs
to sell.
According to pledge treasurer Tom Gruidel, the
profit will be close to $800. This money will be used
to insulate the attic in the new part of the house. The
r-
%
cost of insulating will run about $725, and the re
mainder will be used to build storage shelves.
Due to the high cost of fuel, the pledge class be

\r\nDear Graduate Brothers:
In an effort to keep the graduate chapter in
formed of the activities of our fellow brothers, it is the
active chapter's intention to compile a listing of inter
esting facts about any and all graduate brothers of
Lambda Nu. In order to achieve this goal the partici
pation of the graduate chapter is needed in sending
us information oboyt your fellow brothers. The infor
mation should include the following:
