Beta Cup achievement, high GPA just a few high points
A
nother year has past, and another class of men of Phi
Gamma Delta has passed through its undergraduate
affiliation and into the world. We congratulate these
men for all that they have accomplished in the past four years
and for their love and devotion, while pursuing FIJI’s interests.
Congratulations to the 2004 pledge class!
We may have another class that is leaving our midst, but we
will always have the stories that they have left us with – there
was no drought of those this year. Way back in December,
the pledge retreat took place at Paintball Valley, with
paintball, football and euchre as some of the highlights for
the weekend. The months of January and February were
spent focusing our pledge class on what it means to be
a brother in Phi Gamma Delta. Part of this endeavor was
spent in Indianapolis at Indiana State Day. Once again our
Rho Phi Chapter was given the high honor of being named
the top chapter in Indiana, and the freshmen were able to
see the Beta Cup returned to 1121 South Sixth Street.
Please feel free to contact any of our Brothers, we would
be happy to say more. Again, to our recently graduated
Brothers, congratulations, and to all of our Graduate
Brothers, old and new, come back and visit us so we can
hear your stories.
Sincerely,
Joshua Zabek ‘05
Rho Phi President
It has become well known that we, as a chapter, are working
on improving our graduate and parent relations. In an effort
to advance the latter of these two, the annual parent’s dinner
was held in mid-March. It was an extremely successful
evening, with dinner on campus, and coffee and cheesecake
at the house. There were almost 120 in attendance, making it
one of the most successful parent’s day events ever.
Also in mid-March, our fall pledge class was initiated. We
congratulate them and all that they have accomplished.
Shortly after officer elections were held and a new page
was turned in our history. The new cabinet, composing
of three sophomores, one junior and one senior, spent a
Saturday in April on campus training for their positions, put
on by Joe Weist and Tim Harlan. This retreat has proven to
be very useful and will aid us in pushing forward into the
bright future of the Rho Phi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta.
There are so many events to cover and so many stories
to tell, that I could never fit them all in this short update.

\r\nDear Brothers,
I
hope this newsletter finds you happy and healthy. This is the
second newsletter from Fraternity Management Group based in
Tucson, Arizona. As you may recall, this group was contracted by
the Rho Phi House Corporation to establish more consistent and a
better formatted graduate relations program.
One area that FMG has helped the chapter with is the establishment
of a Rho Phi Hall of Fame. This honor was established last March at the
annual Pig Dinner. For those of you inducted into the Hall of Fame,
congratulations. Thank you for your efforts in starting the Rho Phi chapter
and your continued support throughout the history of Rho Phi.
I would like to thank the chapter for putting together one of the best
Pig Dinner celebrations ever. For those that attended, I am sure you
will all agree with me that Brother Harker’s acceptance speech was
worth the price of admission. For those that weren’t able to make it to
this year’s dinner, you truly missed a great evening.
By now, you should have all received a donation letter from the House
Corporation. We have created an annual campaign to help fund many
of our activities. Our goal is to create a program of giving back to the
fraternity in order to help fund our graduate relations and educational
programs. If you haven’t already, please consider donating to Rho Phi.
Finally, I would like to thank all of the members of the House
Corporation. Without your involvement on the board or in the
committees, we would not be able to have the best fraternity at Rose.
I am honored to be a part of such a great group of guys.
Fraternally,
Todd Hubbell ‘96
Rho Phi House Corporation President

\r\nHall of Fame members inducted
Pig Dinner 2004 a huge success
The initial group of inductees was Bob Harker, Don
Mighell, Bill Miller, Frank Guthrie and the Immortal 15 as
a class. Invitations were sent to these brothers inviting
them to attend the evening. The four graduate founders
(Bob Harker, Don Mighell, Bill Miller, and Frank Guthrie)
as well as four members of the Immortal 15 (Dr. Daniel J.
Phelps ’69, Dr. Bruce P. Williams ’70, Stephen R. Whitesell
’70, and James M. Lowes ’70) attended a reception in their
honor as well as the ceremony later that evening.
The evening’s keynote speaker was Buddy Cotè (Maine
’81) archon secretary. Buddy is the owner of Masters
of Design which produce fraternity insignia (including
Phi Gamma Delta badges and rings) and sports rings
(including Super Bowl rings). Brother Cotè shared
his belief that one’s fraternity experience is directly
proportionate to what one puts into the experience.
The keynote was well received by the crowd.
The Rho Phi chapter would like to thank those
graduates who attended the evening. Furthermore
we would like to congratulate those gradate who were
inducted into the first class of the Rho Phi Hall of Fame.
We recognize that these graduates were instrumental
in the start up of our chapter. They set the tone for the
chapter that has carried the chapter to excellence these
last 35 years.

his year’s Pig Dinner, held on March 13, will be long
remembered by all those in attendance. The evening
started at 6:00 pm with the Hall of Fame Reception.
The Hall of Fame was initiated this year by the Rho Phi
Graduate Association to honor those graduates that
have excelled in either career, church, civic or fraternity
involvement. The inductees are chosen by a committee
of graduates and undergraduates through nominations
from all graduates. These nominees are contacted and
interviewed for a biography that is published for the
evening.
