NEW CABINET
RUSH, PLEDGING SUCCESSFUL
Theta Deuteron voted in five new cab
inet members on November 1, 1980. The
new members are Clay Farno, Historian. Ed
Shellard, Corresponding Secretary; Dave
Paragas, Recording Secretary: DaveArmbust,
Treasurer; and Jim Link, Chapter President.
Their initial steps were spent orienting
themselves with the new positions.

you will get from any of our nineteen terrific
pledges when you ask them what they like the
most about college.
Although open rush hurt
some fraternities and crippled others, our ease
at adapting to this system really helped. We
have now stopped taking new pledges. This
is simply because we fear that a freshman who
pledges now would miss out on both pledge
completing this transition. Though three of

the members are sophomores, the 1981 cab

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
This year promises to be a productive year
for Theta Deuteron. Through increased partici
pation in the chapter's committee system, we
hope to achieve a status of total chapter in
volvement among the undergraduate brothers
and pledges. Hopefully, this will also serve
as a catalyst to stimulate respect for the house
and participation in all chapter events.
The smooth and effecient operation of the
chapter is the major goal of the new cabinet.
We feel, however, there are some major items
that must be tended to in order to reach that
goal. They are as follows:
1) To restore ritual through two meetings
per month and new ritual equipment.
a symbolic relationship. I help them through
experience and they help me by working on
the house (house jobs, setting up parties, etc.
This sort of relationship is one of the great
pillars of strength at our house. A house that
really pulls people together is truly a great
one.
I don't believe I should talk about the
pledges too long, because after all, they are
only pledges.

FIJI INTRAUMURALS
This fall once again marked the start of
Fiji I.M. football.
The team which was below
500 last year came back to be 7-1 overall and
5-1 in league play. The defense was impres
sive from the start with Dan Glaser, Chip Hol-
combe, Kevin Landy, Richie Coleman, and
Mike Hollman ably covering the field and stop
ping almost any deep penetration against the
enemies.
On the front line were Steve Brown,
Scott Feverston, Randy Shively, Dave Paragas,
and Ken Bennett.

Gehring and Erik McWilliams.

That idea never entered the Phi Gams'
mind who came back hitting harder every time.
Finishing off the defense was Dave Armbrust
at linebacker.
Dave was able to seal off the
screen many times and also was in able posi
tion to stop the run. On offense the team was
led by Chuck Searle and Jim Link. Chuck saw
most of his action in the early season, was a
quick thinker who really knew where his re
ceivers were. Jim Link had a quick release
and could really thread the needle with his
passes.
The receiving corps was led by Billy
MacDonald, Glaser, Holman and Stellard.
Billy Mac, a four year starter was all over the
field grabbing everything within reach. Mike
was famous for his high leaps and one handed
catches. Dan, for his part, added the deep
threat and was almost magically able to grab
the ball out of a defender's hand. Stellard,
a hurdler in high school, was able to dart in
and out of seemingly impenetrating defenses.
Finishing off the receiving corps was Tim
Donald alternate In the goal for the Bishops.
Sophomore Doug Cole is also a member of the
Battling Bishops lacrosse team. Rounding out
the athletic prowess of our chapter is sopho
more Clayton Farno who is a member of OWU
ice hockey team.
The members of Theta Deuteron are prom
inent in other areas. Tom Bagli, as well as
playing lacrosse, is running for senior class
trustee.
Mike Hollman, Ken Bennett and Burt
White will be running for positions on the In
ter fraternity Council. Senior Doug Meier, who
has been nothing less than controversial as a
member of the Transcript has nevertheless con
tinued to present his views as he sees fit.
Once again the Theta Deuteron chapter
has been an influential member of the Ohio
Wesleyan Society.

The finale of our season put us against
our rivals, SAE. The game was marked by
hard hitting by both teams but the durability
of the Fiji men won out, driving the SAEs
into the ground like Sherman drove the Con

In overtime the Fi

row.
The team was ably coached this year
