years. At John's death, Dick Clements
was elected president of the Housing

planning.
A buffet dinner was served which was
followed by dancing to the music of the
Forrest Wasson Band from Shangri-La
on Grand Lake. A special highlight of
the evening was when Miss Kay Starr
sang a few numbers for us.
After Kay Starr's appearance, the
Master of Ceremonies, Lee Allan Smith,
introduced Bob Cornell, Purple Legion

Even though many could not come to
the event, many donations were sent
just because many are good Phi Gam's
from Nu Omega. One contribution was
sent from B. A. Garside, New York City.
Mr. Garside is the oldest living Nu
Omega member on our roles. Another
donation was sent from Admiral William
J. Crowe, Chief of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff in Washington, D.C. Over 150
graduate brothers sent in either reserva
tions or donations, and we are happy to
report that over $25,000 was raised to
apply to the indebtedness on the
Chapter House.
On Saturday morning, the group at
tended a brunch at the Chapter House
in Norman. It was the first time many of
the graduate brothers had had the oppor
tunity to see our beautiful new Chapter
House and to meet the members and
pledge class for the 1985-86 collegiate year.

\r\nNU OMEGA WINS FIRST PLACE/HOMECOMING
A
N
Nu Omega's first place Homecoming float at the Phi Gam Chapter House November 18th.
HOMECOMING
This year's theme for Homecoming
was "Crimson and Cream—A Tradition
Unfolds". Todd Looney and his commit
tee worked very hard to enter this year's
competition. Pi Beta Phi sorority was
our counterpart in making this year's
helmet with the Orange Bowl crown on
it. Four big rose petals unfolded from
the football helmet.
Our pledge class operated the water
fall from underneath the float as well as
moved the rose petals which unfolded
from the helmet.
We all awaited for half-time to see if
float come to life.
Our float was constructed on a flat
we won. As the float category was an
bed trailer, twenty-five by eight feet. Our
approach was to create a Big 8 Garden
and Phi Gamma Delta section came
with all the team's mentioned and a
waterfall cascading into the garden. Our
"Crimson and Cream—A Tradition" was
approached by using the gothic arches
at the entrance to the campus (some
thing that has been here since 1926). A
tradition "Unfolds" was a football
nounced, a cheer from the Pi Beta Phi
loud and strong. We had just won 1ST
PLACE with our most outstanding float.
Congratulations, Nu Omega Chapter for
another first.

TREASURER'S
REPORT
Brothers, as the end of the semester
comes to a close, our financial position
is on budget and our chapter seems to
be strong. We have great support from
our Purple Legionnaire and graduate
brother Steve Garrett; Board of Chapter
Advisors-in-Charge of Finances and
have a program in place enabling us to
accomplish many of our goals.
As we move toward the second
semester, our position will be stable
and our financial strengths should con
tinue. Our ability to raise money
through the Annual Morris Pig Dinner or
other supported fund raisers will help
our future to be bright. Thanks for your
support during my treasurer's year.

many great things in place to promote
our chapter toward being number one.
Our enthusiasm has now been tested,
. we are improving our scholarship and
we have moved up the ladder toward
number one. We won the Coulter Cup
and Condon Cup and at our Chapter
House we moved through a most suc
cessful rush. During our SeptemberOctober issue, we reported 39 were in
the pledge class. We have had some
quit because of different reasons and
as of this writing are 36 strong. During
the nine week grade checks, all are
making a C + or better grade point
average.
Our Chapter has completed three
social service projects. One in Oklahoma
City for the mentally retarded: two in
Norman with local groups. This year for
the first time, we worked with the Norman
Chamber of Commerce on its Runfest.
All of these have been very successful.
Our intramural program in football
showed great improvement. We have

Robert L. Albin, President of the

of the Fraternity, effective July 1, 1986.
Martin, a native of Vicksburg,

As Executive Director, Martin will

Bill Martin served Nu Omega as a

He has been the guiding force in direct

Support from graduate members has
basically been from phone calls or

1986, through the efforts of our board
of Chapter Advisors and the Purple

the graduates, to start a state and
region wide selection of outstanding
highschool seniors who might choose
the University of Oklahoma to attend
next fall. These are the highschool
graduates that should have names on

to each meeting and has worked very
closely with the University officials on
the rush subject. A report has been
sent to the University with recommenda

JOIN THE NU OMEGA
GRADUATE ASSOCIATION
We are starting a NU OMEGA
GRADUATE ASSOCIATION and we
hope that you will join. There are over
1,490 graduate brothers of the NU
OMEGA CHAPTER of Phi Gamma Delta.
If we could receive an average of
$25.00 from each graduate brother, we
could provide $37,350 per year to keep
the Chapter House in good shape and
could spread the funding for our rush
program to every brother. If we could
average $50.00 from each graduate
brother, it would provide $74,700 per
year.
Over $511,642 has been received to
rebuild our Chapter House. It is surpris
ing that this large amount has come
Vic Weber in winning role.
The annual Delta Chi Boxing Tourna
ment continued this year at the Student
Union on the main campus. This year
David Eaton, Steve Allen, Kevin Cordell
and Vic Weber entered the tournament.
Kevin Cordell and Vic Weber advanced
to the finals, but in very close decisions,
came in second. Steve Allen advanced
to the semi-finals. David Eaton lost in
from a very few graduate brothers.
Many of you have not been contacted.
We feel that if we can get good support
from the graduate brothers by joining the
NU OMEGA GRADUATE ASSOCIATION
that we could get the financial affairs of
our chapter in good shape and keep
them that way. At the present time, the
debt on the Chapter House is approx
imately $225,000. It is our hope to be
able to burn the mortgage by the 75th
anniversary of the Chapter (NU OMEGA)
in 1991. Not only do we want your
financial support, but we want your
active support to see that the NU
OMEGA Chapter retains the fine status
that it has today. Clip the form below
