serve a variety of purposes and will be structured in a very
professional manner.
The Kenneth G. Graves Memorial Scholarship committee

Although our chapter did not win any cups this yeai; we
did place 3rd in the Archon's Trophy competition. Once again,
we received the Superior Scholarship award in recognition of
our being above the All-Men's average for 17 straight years.
Furthermore, the new John Templeton McCarty Award was
presented to our chapter in recognition ofchapter proficiency.
We left the Fiji Academy with the assurance that Si^a Mu
is headed in the right direction in its unending quest toward
excellence". All of us would like to cxprcss our gratitude to
on 4 major areas; 1) Academic Achievement,2) Extracurricular
the graduates of this chapter for laying the foundation upon
Activities, 3) Community Service, and 4) Athletic Involve
ment. There will be 2 recipients, and each will receive $300
for the school year.
which we were able to build its outstanding reputation.
The chapter believes the K. G. Graves Scholarship will be
beneficial for 3 reasons. First, it will promote Phi Gamma
Delta throughout the state among highschool students, feculty and parents. Second, the scholarship will recognize outstancling achievement. Third, and most important, the K. G.
Graves Memorial Scholarship wLU stand as a permanent
reminder ofa brother who had a long list ofaccomplishments
throughout his life.
We are all very proud of this new chapter project and con
fident that it wHl be a definite improvement to Sigma Mu.
We also expect the scholarship to encourage Brotherhood,
academic improvement, and scholastic awareness.
